I think Mie has been mentioning Marin’s laziness to the public way too much. Marin has gotten some serious flack for this from the commenters on Japanese Yahoo as not trying your best is a huge no go for most Asian people.
However, Marin definitely needs to improve her elements. I wonder what Mie can still do for her, though. Mie has helped Marin develope her great skating skills, beautiful carriage and musicality, all the elusive qualities that make her overall skating so lovely. But the spins have never improved. And the jumping technique that her team teaches - low jumps relying on fast rotation with great flow in and out - seems increasingly scary to me because these jump are so prone to prerotation and underrotation after puberty. Seeing how Marin and Yuna Shiraiwa now struggle to eak out the rotation is kinda sad when you remember how effortless and light their jumps and combos were in juniors.
I wouldn't worry about comments on Yahoo news lol. Also everything will be forgiven in the public's eyes if she makes an amazing comeback at nationals which I'm sure she will! Hamada is one of the best coaches for ladies in Japan at the moment, so I honestly don't think Marin's weaknesses in spins is with Hamada being unable to teach spins, especially seeing as how Satoko's spins are A class and Marin has shown that she can get the levels at times. Agree about the jump technique though unfortunately because I love the flow of their jumps, but they really are always on the border...
Even Rika's non-3A jumps look low to me and she is able to jump a great 3A so it's confusing to me. I don't think there's any use comparing their jumps to other Japanese ladies jumps because Hamada's camp definitely does the most transitions in and out of their jumps from the Japanese ladies side.

Looks like bunny ears
