Marin Honda SP was uploaded here.

:yes:She quickly removed her right boot at the K&C after Cathy gave her a nod. First I thought wow Marin is so done with this season. Lol Now Im thinking you could be right. In the SP someone pointed out the bruise on her right knee and we wondered if she took a nasty fall in practice.I also still wonder how much Marin's hallux valgus is affecting her. I hope she has the courage to pull this through, but I'm not sure. Anyway, she is still young enough to tackle any career for the future that she wants.
I think everybodys assigned to go either challenge cup or coupe de printemps. It's better that she got it over with sooner rather than later. I'm glad she medalled anyway cos it wouldnt have been a good look to the fed, and she would get more crap if she hadnt.I guess JSF or her team made her compete here and I don't understand why, she's clearly not in form but it could be worse I guess, it was not a complete meltdown like in short.

Thanks for explaining. I thought it had something to do with maintaining the standings but I literally dont know how it works. Whats the consequence of falling out of top 24?
Just to be fair: pretty much, yes that's the case. JSF has clear regulations stating that skaters in 'special strengthened' category have the priority to go to these events in Spring. But it's not that JSF 'forces' skaters to participate either. Eligible skaters would be offered with the opportunities, and it's up to them to decide if they want to take part in those or not (and call it a finish of the season).
And the main reason is quite obvious: for 'special strengthened' skaters (usually skaters who have 2 GP assignments), they have been assigned to only 1 CS (mostly) early on during the season. So if these skaters don't get to go to either WC or 4CC, they could still get some boost in competition scoring by going to some B-events in the spring. Right now after Challenge Cup, Marin's world standing is at 20th (and she may or may not fall out of top 24 after WC) and her season's world standing at 13th (better). It's all related to the next season and how she's going to get assignment for GP in the upcoming season. That's all!
Marin seems so desperate after seeing Alina's SP in this video: https://youtu.be/Myb5GZGMPow?t=48
(At least they're hugging at the end)
