Max Aaron

Hey, Stitch, if you are interested in going back for this year's show in Centennial:

FYI, the guest skaters for 2016 Showtime on Ice will be Maddie Aaron/Max Settlage + Mirai Nagasu. Apr 22-24.

I'll keep it in mind.... to be honest I am thinking of not dragging the better half to much figure skating stuff this season as I know i will likely want to be going to more stuff next season for pre Olympics. I don't want to burn him out too soon.

I'm surprised there hasn't been chatter here on helping get Max the fan's vote to compete in the Team Challenge Cup for North America. I'm thinking either Max or Patrick will get the most number of votes - I believe voting starts on March 9th.

Or do people here think it will benefit Max more to rest and get ready to training for the next season? I can't imagine that it would take too much out his schedule at that time, but I don't how these skaters normally plan their off-season.

I guess the thing for me is that I don't want to get greedy. My biggest wish for Max is that he skates well at Worlds :yay:.

That said, Max has loved the team aspect of WTT, so my expectation is that he would enjoy TCC too.

I like all of the eligible North American men and would be happy for any of them to win the TCC fan vote.
But the softest spot in my heart is for Max, and I look forward to voting for him .

As for Patrick: vivley posted a link in his fan thread re his scheduled appearance in a show in Canada on the same Saturday as TCC.

I think Max's odds are certainly higher now that we know that Patrick is not likely involved. Still, I think part of it will have to do with how the voting works. I think Adam might have an advantage in that he has had the chance to skate in Europe/Asia more often then Max, and thus might have a larger over sea fan base. I know he has a following in Japan for instance which could be huge.

To be honest I hope that one of our men has the skate of their life at worlds and that they get the vote. If we are going to only use worlds and vote after worlds, i would rather the one that kicks engine at worlds get it regardless of who it is.

... and of course if i had a magic wish to choose it would be Max.

On the other hand, if he does not get to go, that may not be so bad. I really think Max's early start on the season helped him this year, so the sooner he gets to nest season the better.

I'm not yet concerned because there's nothing to campaign for yet. What will be really important is who he's up against when the nominations come out. We're guessing Patrick's out, but no matter the reassurances from other GSers, and no matter how much we love him, I just don't see our SnuggleBat beating one of the popular "artistes" like Adam in a fan vote. Too many people still bear him a grudge against his very style. I have every confidence he'd beat Firus, though.

I'd like to see him start his next season sooner, but we're not likely to get another lead in the way we got for this season ever again, unless something awful happens. So, in a way, it would be good for Max to have a shorter lead in to the next season, because that's a more "normal" turnaround, if you catch my drift. I'd wager safely however that he already knows what he's skating to next season, or at the very least has a few "finalists". He seems to know very early. For me, I'm hoping for our Nutcracker Max!

Agreed, but he will not always be able to get a good early start to the season like he did last year, so a more "normal" turnaround may be helpful.

Also, the long lead-in may have bitten him in some ways...remember how excited we all were and how much we loved Black Swan at WTT? I still love Black Swan...but I think a lot of people are sharply against Max's progress because they remember that Black Swan and compare it unfavourably to the new Black Swan. Maybe it'd be best to give Mr Mills less time to think it over...

Our SnuggleBat is very proud of himself, and so he should be!

A truly special night @WishColorado last night! With the help from @USFigureSkating, my table was able to raise $2000 toward the foundation!

But I can't help but look at the photo posted to his facebook page and shake my head. Oh, Max. What on earth are we going to do about your dress sense...

I'm not even certain what's offending my eyes the most at this point. The shoes, the bare ankles, the jeans that are too short, the untucked shirt, or the coat and tails that do not go with anything else he is wearing. :palmf: Oh honey, you are so handsome, but this is...terrible.

In his defense the other two people seem to be wearing the same horrible jacket... and untucked shirts as well.

:agree: Yes, Max and other celebrity waiters wore the jackets with tails at last year's fundraiser too.
I assume that Make-A-Wish Colorado rents all the jackets every year for the waiters to wear ... with jeans and other street clothes. (Instead of paying more to outfit each waiter in head-to-toe formal wear.)

At last year's event, Max did tuck his shirt in.

Untucked shirts are seen on even more of this year's waiters in a photo of the entire group. (Some tucked-in shirts are seen as well.)
Maybe someone from Make-A-Wish made a suggestion this year to leave shirts untucked?? Perhaps thinking that they are a lesser evil than the weird look of belts with the jackets?

Anyway, I think Max is in the back row at the very right.
And it is very nice that Make-A-Wish invited him back this year , and that he was excited to support the cause again .

Meanwhile, I will admit to being surprised that Max's Nessun Dorma costume is in a "best-dressed" collage from MK Blades (promoting its own skaters, of course).
Black Swan is his better costume this season, IMO.
(The link in the tweet to the full MK Blades blog entry does not work for me.)

Throwing back to a collage in honor of Max's birthday, posted by Broadmoor Skating Club.

Well, karne will be lost in the black hole of time and space at the time...

Yes, I'll have to catch up with it when I land.

I'm trying to figure out what question to ask. I've got a couple of finalists, but we'll see. Either way, it was kind of horrifying when Josh said that, because in my mind it meant that I bugged him far too much. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. Max does favourite some of my tweets, so... *shrug*

I think he just panicked at the question... for some odd reason. I think it was a fun question, and one that really they should be reasonably able to answer.
