For posterity, the link to Tom Z's new blog looking back on the GP season -- with praise for Vincent, Max, Mirai (and Camden).

ETA (on Dec 21):

- Very happy to see today's USFS throwback to video of Max and Jason on the Times Square billboard.

I think it did the best job yet of capturing the larger-than-life imagery.

- Max, Camden, and TJ in a photo from the BSC banquet:

Both Google and Instagram translates are awful, but from what I can ascertain, the artist congratulates Max and then goes on at length to discuss how much she liked him the first time she saw him at NHK Trophy (that must have been in 2013, his first season on the GP) and how much she liked his 2016 Worlds Black Swan (she cried watching it). I think she also suggests that Max is a strong person and that she admires that.

The last paragraph is the clearest (and the loveliest):

It is said that figure skating is a competition where personality comes out, but when I am watching Aaron's performance, I am terribly thinking, "A good guy! A nice guy is skating !! Really nice guy !!!!!". I love it! ! ! Neathan, Adam, Jason, Vincent and Roth, I want many of the American men who can not be named to go to the Olympic Games, but I also want Aaron to go Olympic! ! !

Max posted another picture of BikerBat on his Twitter, talking about a shoot he did for USADA a few months ago.

Very cool for Max to be chosen as a "presenter" (so to speak) for a USADA video.
(And I'm so glad that he tweeted about it and shared the image.)

Of course, I was curious to know more.
If I am putting two and two together correctly, I think Max probably was in one of USADA's "Athlete's Advantage" tutorials, which all Registered Testing Pool athletes must complete on an annual basis.
"This mandatory education provides athletes with vitally important anti-doping information, including an explanation of new prohibited substances as well as the sample collection process ..."
New RTP athletes "must view the 20-minute tutorial, while returning athletes watch a shorter version."
Over 4000 athletes completed the tutorials in 2015.

Thanks for translating. :)
I'm very pleased for Max to have such a supportive and talented Japanese fan.

More commencement stuff:

- At least fifteen photos of Max -- with many big smiles from him :hap93: -- are in this large UCCS Facebook photo album:

A great sequence of nine photos of him onstage, including being congratulated by three university dignitaries and what looks like the actual moment of being handed his diploma.
Plus other photos of him offstage standing/walking with his diploma; sitting with fellow graduates; taking selfies.

I will gradually come back to this post and add links to individual photos.

For starters: https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.ne...=082c680a48a532b8196b8f652633a4bb&oe=5ABF67C6

- An article on the Colorado Springs Gazette site was based heavily on the piece from UCSS about Max.

(A corresponding Facebook post from Gazette Sports referred to "Olympian Max Aaron.")

- I think the blue and yellow cords meant that Max was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (international business honor society).

Adam's commentary nearly killed me! I approve of BikerBat! ...

And today we have Instagram stories from @lagibbs84 that are giving a couple more glimpses of BikerBat in the USADA video.

Very fun to see Max in her video snippet.

......................WHAT EVEN WAS THAT

Really hopeful that Max makes the Olympic team. If his quads hold up and he can breathe some life into both programs at Nationals, I think he will. When he is "on", he is stupendous!

Another new Instagram story has another snippet from the USADA video -- showing a bit more of Max's role.

It was posted by @kingmorghan.
[Morghan King is a (female) Team USA weightlifter.]

Sorry for the series of posts about the USADA video. But because Instagram stories expire quickly, I don't want to just edit FYIs about new ones into an old post.

And ... see @teamusa's Instagram story for a video snippet of Max in the ballet studio.

The snippet is promoting the USOC "My Focus" video and article about Max that were published today.
But IIRC, I don't think the snippet in the Instagram story is in the main video.

(Other links are in the U.S. Men's thread at the hyperlink above. And here is the YouTube link to the main video: https://youtu.be/Keh3LKCd0xc . I do love :luv17: this video.)

Hat tip to Princessroja  for flagging this series.

Best of luck to Max at the upcoming US Nats! :cheer::cheer::cheer: Fingers crossed he CAN get a spot to the Oly Games. :)

OT, I love your avatar ice coverage. :agree:

A new Instagram story from @kendallorraine has another still image from the USADA video. #MaxAsCharacterActor

And I see that someone immortalized Adam's aforementioned Instagram story re BikerBat and the USADA video.

Always makes me so happy to read your cheers for Max, deedee. :ghug:

And thanks for mentioning the graduation avatar. :)
(Meanwhile, I already had been thinking of changing it back to something else for Nats. Will wait a couple of more days to do so.)

Fan art with Max as a superhero  ... with his fellow superheroes Ashley, Nathan, Jason, and Adam.

ETA:

And now Max has re-posted the fan art, adding:

Always wanted to be a super hero! Thanks ... for the sweet drawing.

Throwback to taking in the view of Grenoble:

And ... Max himself posted the throwback to the Times Square billboard video with him and Jason. (Same snippet as from USFS, I think? But always nice to see what Max chooses to post.)

ETA:

Some USFS videos -- including one of Max -- have been uploaded to nbcsports.com, under the heading of 2018 U.S Figure Skating Championships.

How Max Aaron's mindset has changed
Max Aaron's training has evolved over the years, which has helped him increase his skating to another level.

The content is not being seen for the first time, but nice that on nbcsports.com, a new batch of potential eyeballs will have the opportunity to see the Max video.

Oh, I don't know, I feel like MagnaMax will give SnuggleBat extra luck at Nationals

Dropping by to wish Max good luck at his Nationals!

Oh no, I see that Max's number one fan has been banned.

My heart goes out to SnuggleBat :sad4: and his wonderful family :ghug:.

Cheering for Magna Max at men's practice at Solar will be my priority tomorrow.

Worth missing most or all of the SD at SAP.

please cheer on my behalf, too - if we talk a great redemption skate, Max is definitely a man for the job, I do wish he will leave his heart in his FS performance

Feeling sorry for Max. He can never seem to get a break - his training was going so well. And while I didn't have him picked to make the team, I did think he'd be more in the mix, especially with his artistic strides. Hopefully he has a CoC-esque redemption free skate. :)

Magna Max is a major focus of this article about elite athletes committed to getting an education during their competitive careers:

Training For The Olympics Is Hard Enough. Try Doing That While Earning A Degree
January 4, 2018

Heard on All Things Considered
https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/201...-enough-try-doing-that-while-earning-a-degree

Same link has 3:55 audio (which I have not listened to yet).
Also a great photo of Max. [ETA, correction: Two great photos of Max. :)]

Excerpts from the article:

"I look at, they got a 99 — I'm going to get 100," he says during a break from the rink in the World Arena Ice Hall, where aspiring and elite Olympic skaters train.

That doesn't mean it was easy. Because of his skating career, he hadn't ever taken the SAT or ACT, so he had to start at community college. He worked as a a waiter on the weekends to help pay the tuition. To accommodate his three hours a day at the rink, plus warmup time, strength conditioning, physical therapy and dance, he typically took his finance classes from 8 to 10:40 a.m. and 7:30 to 10:05 p.m.

.... His graduation ceremony last month was held in the arena next to the rink where he trained. His grandfather couldn't make it, but his parents did.
After he received his degree, he went back to the locker room, changed clothes, and got back on the ice to train some more.

please cheer on my behalf, too ...

Yes, absolutely. Will cheer for Max on behalf of all his fans on GS :ghug: :yay:.

... if we talk a great redemption skate, Max is definitely a man for the job, I do wish he will leave his heart in his FS performance

:agree:

I was so sorry to see the scores when I woke up this morning :( I love Max and I was really hoping to see him at the Olympics. I hope he not only skates great but wins the free skating tomorrow!
