Megan Oster!

I hope Megan Oster will medal at Nationals. She is as energetic as Emily but with grace on the ice.

I am rooting for Alissa and Megan.

Of course you are! Neither of these skaters will be a threat to your favorites, Mao Asada and Mira Leung.

I think the halfway mark is two minutes exactly?

I find it really hard to tell which jump is which when I see them in real time on TV. I am starting to be able to tell the Lutz because that's the one where they coast in on one edge, then slip over to the other one at the last second when no one is looking. :)
If they flip over to the other edge it is either a flutz or a flip depending on your definition.

I know the lutz because they pick into the ice and the leg is outward...I know the axel because they go into it forward. I think your right it's the loop since there is no pick. I know what the sal is because it looks like they are going bowlegged. but thanks, I should be an expert at this soon/.
Loops, Salchows and Axels are edge jumps. No picking for an assist. Wally's are too, but we don't talk about them any more. They have been banned. The tribe has spoken.

Yeah, the Sal is distinctive because of that squatty bow-leg thing, plus the pre-rotation on the ice and the big leg swing. Arakawa has a great-looking one, because she is tall.
First decide if a pick is being used, then if not, it can only be a loop, salchow, or axel, If they are doing it while being backwards, you can rule out the Axel. What's left is the loop and sal. I wouldn't use Arakawa for a guideline. Your best bet would be Fleming or Hamil. I noticed triple sals tend to have the free leg very close to the ice with heaving thinking. Irina has the loop to watch.

I think Mysticchic is talking about Megan's loop - skater pulls the free leg across and takes off from the back outside edge without a weight transfer.

Now I am a bit confused about the time. I think "halfway" really means halfway. A ladies' senior LP is supposed to be four minutes exactly and a senior men's is still four-and-a-half. Is juniors a little less?

Sorry for that confusion, I was thinking that if it is a true"halfway" then I was looking at it as Half of a "potential programme" and that could be 1:50 for the +/- 10 seconds would dictate that. But that is not a very sensible thing to do I suppose if you are saying you get a bonus at the half way, there should be (as there is) a definitive point that is considered half way. The timer comes up at 1:51 on the telecast so those two factors screwed me up.

Thanks for the clarification mskater93.:agree:

And Back to my original question about her getting the bonus, DUH Sean, it is a SP - no bonus.

Oh yah, the leg cross, I didn't think of it as a prior to jump.
