Men FS

That's all right, Evan. You sent 'em a message! (Real men wear cream.)

Good for Patrick Chan! If only he had come first I would be two for two in the Golden Skate prediction contest (with Davis and White and Caroline Zhang yet to come.)

Did Berntsson and Zelenka really get exactly the same score, 98.37, in the free skate -- to the exact one-hundredth of a point?

Thanks so much for the play-by-play and all the comments on this thread! :agree:

Overall, although it wasn't exactly a splatfest, it wasn't particularly exciting. What I enjoyed most was how well Carriere did (even though I don't really love his LP), that Evan fought back, and that I was exposed to Patrick Chan. What? Is he Canada's secret weapon? I'm not sure he was even on my radar, but I'll take notice after this. And only 16? MASSIVE potential.

With Buttle, Mabee, and Chan can you believe Sandhu is even thinking of continuing.

Yay for Evan, I <333333 this comeback kid!

He looks soooooo hot in white. See Evan? you can pull off colors, and you'll be able to pull off clean SP too! Go Evan!

Evan "I'm a man" Lysacek is showing us a little of his feminine side. How sweet.
:chorus:

well if anbody has seen the opera Tosca, the lead male charachter, Mario wears a white painter's shirt for most of the story. He is trying to look like the charachter, not be feminine.

Daisuke Takahashi
Romeo and Juliet

In again a costume he could one wear, it's purple with...well with a lot of stuff on it.

4t HUGE
3ax fall
3loop
camel, sit spin, upright
Cftwk very fast a lot of turns
Sit spin
This is nice
3ax 2t
3f-3t (flip was great)
3sal
3lutz fall
3toe
flying sit spin
Slftwk, very very good!
Combo spin, fast with layback, good
Good ending

Ok Evan was better and he may have done enough to win this...ket's see
wow, he landed the quad! With that and the higher level footwork and chreography, i can see why he was in the lead. But that chreography must be pretty amazing to make up for TWO falls.

 It's great how Chan's PCS jumped up from short program to long program. That's where they should be.

 Takahashi for landing the quad, and Lysacek for not wearing all black. :p

I think it was more the lead he had after the short that ensured his first place. Lysacek did win the freeskate.

Anyway, hooray for Chan! What an excellent result for him. He is right in the thick of it.

An excellent result for Patrick!!

Mr. Colson must be so proud looking down from the cloud he was sitting on to watch Patrick's skate. :)

Yeaeeeaahh PATRICK! He is such a nice young man. They had to drag him away to a press conference and he wanted to stay and sign as many autographs as he could. It was so humbling. He is so down to earth and normal and sweet and funny. Yeah I'm drooling, I'm aware.

Was anyone else bored out of their minds by Preaubert?

I would have placed Chan higher than Lysacek for the overall quality of his skating. Evan had many awkward landings and he was really muscling those jumps. I liked his white shirt though.

WOW, now I have watched the clip of Evan´s LP... What a great performance to beautiful music, oh my. And this was the first time he skated to it for the audience? OMG, this is going to be a wonderful season!!! Ivory suits Evan as well as black, in my opinion. The shirt looks wonderful on him.

i may be the only one bothered, but the neckline is too plunging.

I would have put Carriere in my list of 'Best Senior Debuts' ever but he missed his beautiful lutz - Twice:cry:

I will put his choreography on the 'Best List' of Skate America 2007

I believe most of the Senior Men are now 21 or older (Lutai, Daisuke, Evan) while Carriere is still a teenager (18). I'm not so knowledgeable about Patrick's age but he sure is a confident performer. Remember Daisuke in 2004 Worlds at 18? He was good and now he is special.

Let's see what Stephen Carriere does in three years. Yes?

Absolutely. Chan has lots of time to add difficult jumps and overall difficulty to his skills. He should be the one to watch for 2010. IMO Takahashi may peak too early and miss the OGM opportunity. Chan can be competitive in 2010 and 2014.

He may be one to watch for 2010. To already say he should be the one to watch is very premature. In addition to Takahashi out there there is Joubert, Lambiel, Plushenko maybe returning, Verner, Oda.

Having watched both Chan and Carriere compete over the the past year or so, IMO the difference in this competition was Chan coming in the more confident skater - self proclaimed as well. He had been through the Senior Grand Prix ranks last year and this year was the second time around. Carriere's skate was still a bit tentative when compared to the Jr. World Championship in which both he and Chan competed earlier in the year. These two may very well provide some competition for each other in the years to come. It would not surprise me in the least to see them competing at the 2010 games.
