Men's Long Program

Tomas is being interviewed

"I kept fighting until the end, I don't know much to say, it's my first european title, what do you expect?"

wow! that was one interesting competition! Horray for Verner... like this guy. poor brian, everytime he gets a step closer to where he wants to be (last year won worlds) he falls back again. just not consistant with the jumps... and a lot of injuries, coach probems. Hope he can recover by worlds.

Brian needs to rest. If this competition was fierce now imagine in Sweden with Weir, Lysacek, Takahashi, Chan, Buttle in the mix.

Poor guy

:eek:Wow! Wasn't expecting that. Here are the scores.

He is talking about all the work he has to do, polish some elements, and a few surprises, he knows there's lot to work on.

The ask him about Olys, about next two years and he said
"Well I don't know what you expect, I expect hard training"

I think that this is very interesting. I think that the worlds is going to be a big battle with Wier, Lysacek, Takahashi, Chan and Buttle there. I think that anyone can win worlds at this point. No one is a lock.

Backstage, Verner with his coach (the lady) she looks so happy
Verner getting endless hugs

Thank you Ximena!

WOW! WOW! WOW! That's my boy! Congratulations TOMAS! The new European Champion! SO WELL DESERVED!:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I really like this guy, and really want to see him on Olympic podium!:rock::rock::rock::rock:

Do you remember how Thomas' season started? He was sixth at Trophée Eric Bompard. He was really bad there, how things change in short time...

Brian with Tomas backstage, Brian looks happy

Medal ceremony
Tomas, look at him all happy!! He can't stop smiling
Stephane, huge ovation
Brian, he looks tired

Tomas is singing his anthem :agree:
He is so so happy, he cannot stop smiling

Oh this is good!

Wait...I thought Stéphane and Brian almost tied...Now Stéphane has 225.24 and Brian has 219.45. Well, I guess it doesn't really matter. haha

Yes, I like Tomas. His personality is so endearing. He seems very friendly and funny based on some fluff pieces and exhibitions I've seen of him. He's cute and has a great smile!

Did they forget to count a jump? That's more than 6 points more. Doesn't change the result though, he still has the second best freeskate - but the difference to Verner in the freeskate is just 0.18 now.

Hmm, problem solved - the TES they first gave was without GOE.

I am so happy for Tomas. Congrats to Stephane and Brian as well.
Wishing Brian good health. Thanks for all of the reports, you posters are the best.

Great job for Voronov. Outskating even an out-of-shape Joubert in the Long is an incredible achievement!

Correction to Lambiel score

Now ISU page of the event reports a score of 153.46 ( = 73.46+80.00) for Lambiel's FP score, from previous of 147.85 ( =67.85+80.00).

They previously took in account only the total Base value of elements, whitout GOEs.

Correct total score (SP+FP) for Lambiel is 225.24

I just finished watching on eurosport...WOW! this was an exciting event! I guess the skating gods went against all of those who were saying euros weren't worth watching since they were so predictable!!
I must say I was rooting for either Stephane or Thomas, so I'm happy with the result!

i knew tomas had it in him
he's jsut very inconsistent..
but not here

so happy, i really like his crouching LP

congrats to the top 3 for intense competition

I couldn't agree more....it's so up for grabs, with so many great men.

I'm all over the place with this comp --- Lambiel has got to learn some of the 'rule basics' to not repeat dumb errors.... but that aside, I hope he can show us relatively clean versions of these programs at worls because they really are amazing.

So happy for Tomas but I feel so sad for Brian. He worked so hard last year and made such amazing strides (well and won all the time too), and now, to know he is sick and struggling just makes me sad. But getting a bronze is great too and here's hoping he can get completely well soon.
