Men's Short Program

Some skaters one hears about their illnesses, others like Joubert with Flu in Canada kept it under wrap. You figure. Joe

I've read Joubert got flu AFTER he came back from Canada. and not during Skate Canada COP in an article. I don't know which is true.

Where did you find the info about he got illness in Canada ? Are you sure ?

All this blathering about Takahashi's "brilliant" SP is nonsense. It is silly to call this hip-hop. He does a few head and shoulder shrugs. The music has no merit and the costume is like a bad nightmare you'd have after a losing trip to Vegas.

However, don't get me wrong. I actually like him tremendously. But this SP is not the masterpiece some would make it out to be. Both his TES and PCS scores in this competition are, to be generous, grossly inflated.

If this one isn't the "masterpiece," THEN WHAT IS!!!

Okay, maybe not.
I like this program though, if nothing else, for being different.
I think the style suits him although the costume is another disaster as you say.
(who keeps dressing him in these what can only be described as 'been mauled by a lion'?)
The hair.... only he can pull it off.

I think all in all, it's a perfect fit for DT, hence the high scores.

Sniper ... LOL ... you're right ... his hair is more outrageous than even Johnny ever thought about ... and no one seems to ever mention it.

Seriously, I think he's great. But Phantom last year and disco duck this year? He just needs a little more help with artistic choices.

Johnny Weir: "Falling on the triple axel was just silly. I was trying too hard and I went too high," the 23-year-old said. "I'll have the long program tomorrow to improve myself."

No mention of his foot that I can see.

It's good to hear Johnny explained his fall this way, and didn't mention his foot. This is the new, and better attitude toward competition, I think. There is about 5 points difference between the third and the fourth position. It is a big, but not an impossible gap. He still has hope. Wish him good luck tomorrow.

The great relief was to see Lambiel's performance. I like his this year's SP and LP a lot more than his last year's. I am so glad that he did a 3A as well as a quad in his SP, and so happy to see he was happy in the K&C. It has raised my hope for him for tomorrow. Wish him to win this event.

What IS PCS? How do judges evaluate it? Why is Takahashi's PCS higher than Lambiel's, and Lysacek's same as Weir's? I thought it was about the artistry, but it seems only emphasized the performance. I am so confused.

Haha.
His hair blends in so perfectly with the rest of his get-up that it would look odd if it WERE NOT that flashy.
It's as if a lion combed one side of his head with his fangs.
See? It's a theme.

As for his choice of programs, I think he's picking the genres that work quite well for his particular body type and such.

The only reason we know about the foot is because Galina made a vague reference to it in a brief interview. Further information on it was given from his mother to his English fan site via the moderators so it's not like he's been standing on a hill top telling the world about his foot.

LOL, I would not think that it is a question of any serious injury, because I have read that Weir has been trying to jump a quad in his practices at GPF... If he would suffer from an injury, would he continue doing it instead of concentrating just on jumps that he will be doing in his programmes?

Of the sp results I would have marked the 4 first skaters after the sp exactly on the places they are. Takahashi is not just great in tecnic, he is such a wonderful performer and like Lambiel and Lysacek, he really draws the audience into his programmes.

It is really strange, Lambiel's second score was lower than Takahashi's. Even if I like the second mentioned as well.

It is difficult to find anybody in my long memory who can have a better score than Lambiel in this term. He stands out in this section from all of the others so far.
It doesn't disturb me that Takahashi took the lead, don't take me wrong. He was awesome.

I don't think that this is strange. Lambiel's short seems to me like they took some movements from the LP, looked for different but similar music and let him dance to that. It does not have the amazing flow, the enchanting charisma and the outstanding and absolutely fitting choreography of his LP. He also seemed a bit cautious yesterday, as if he was concentrating on the jumps (which I totally understand) and not so much on the program. He did every element and he did them well - it just seemed that they did not really belong together.

Takahashi's SP is just a masterpiece, as is Lambiel's LP.

Joubert is not the gist of my post about publicizing illness When I read one report it said he had symptons of flu at Skate Canada. True? or Not? Dunno but then do we really know about Johnny's injury. There is tremendous speculation about it. Some fans are very overprotective, imo.

Isn;t that the story of Figure Skating and every skater?

"Been mauled by a lion" totally cracked me up. So true!

Since Galina described the foot problem as "minor" and Johnny himself hasn't mentioned it, I'm not going to worry about it. I'm more worried about what that pesky high humidity will do to his hair-do.

If Takahashi's is holding up, Johnny's should be fine. :agree:

People will be interested in their favorite skaters , and they want to hear everything about them. If a paticular skater is popular, then more attention will be paid to them. It's simple.
