Men's Short Program

Evan should be happy with his skate. He beat johnny, that's a step up.

Johnny fell. He would tied or slightly ahead otherwise, even without the quad. Although the way this GP final is being judged except in the dance event, who cares about the scores or results really. It is like watching a reality show scripted in advance, except for the dance which was fairly marked even with mediocre quality.

Daisuke did so weellll. Love the program even when it's not perfect and loved it even more tonight.

Stephane - 3A eee! I'm kinda dubious whether he can repeat this feat tomorrow, though.

Johnny - even with the fall, the program was beautiful. He got up so quickly and was really into all his footwork and it was great to watch. (And I can really appreciate it now that I'm rewatching and don't have to worry about scores.)

The PCS however... are just a big   for EVERYBODY.

If Johnny is in pain, he shouldn't be skating. He needs to see a doctor, and if it's serious, he better WD and go home.

He's not going to withdraw unless he literally can't do his long tomorrow. If he didn't withdraw in Calgary, then he's not going to withdraw from the event he had to withdraw from last year already.
Unless *possibly* if Galina tried to force him into it.
I think he might concede this event, though. I doubt he's going to try the quad. More likely he'll skate, take fourth(if KVDP passes him the world be a very sad place), and then go home to recuperate.

I don't know, I think he still has a good chance to medal. It's not unlikely that he'll bring it tomorrow.

(As it is not unlikely that Stephane will totally fail to deliver in the FS etc.)

And somehow I don't see him WDing this time.

Imagine those tons of **** that will come down his head if he does.
He had the same injury during Worlds 2005 and even made the same mistake in his SP, but came back strong in the long. Hope he will be able to do this again tomorrow.

Some skaters one hears about their illnesses, others like Joubert with Flu in Canada kept it under wrap. You figure.

The Men's comp lived up to the hype. It is at least 4 tall men (that's figuratively), battling it out. So far all four are up there. Will it last? Lambiel executed a 3A as well as a 4. What will we talk about?

The only reason we know about the foot is because Galina made a vague reference to it in a brief interview. Further information on it was given from his mother to his English fan site via the moderators so it's not like he's been standing on a hill top telling the world about his foot.

Anyway, I agree with Hsuhs, if he's not well I'd rather him W/D than risk further aggravating it.

How can takahashi's PCS almost one point higher than Lambiel's ??
Why? Why ? Why?

This is ridiculous. Skating order still plays a role... takahashi has no artistry whatsoever.

STEPH!!!!!! :love::love::love::love::love:
I'm pissed that someone else scored higher PCS but SOOOOOOO FREAKIN HAPPY that he skated cleanly.

Hopefully we will get to see his fs masterpiece sans mistake this time!!!

From a vague reference it became a dire emergency that everyone should know?

Not only do I agree with Hsuh about Johnny, I feel the same about ALL injured skaters.

Unfortunately if Johnny does withdraw due to his injury, there will be certain posters who will say he wimped out and call him a faker.

What if he is bruised somewhat and it's taped up? I am sure that will get high hype before he skates. If it happened to Patrick Chan, it probably get a footnote.

All this blathering about Takahashi's "brilliant" SP is nonsense. It is silly to call this hip-hop. He does a few head and shoulder shrugs. The music has no merit and the costume is like a bad nightmare you'd have after a losing trip to Vegas.

However, don't get me wrong. I actually like him tremendously. But this SP is not the masterpiece some would make it out to be. Both his TES and PCS scores in this competition are, to be generous, grossly inflated.

Johnny Weir: "Falling on the triple axel was just silly. I was trying too hard and I went too high," the 23-year-old said. "I'll have the long program tomorrow to improve myself."

No mention of his foot that I can see.

I agree completely. He should be behind Stephane and barely ahead of Evan.

After seeing the videos, I think Evan was undermarked. He is very powerful and fast... This program suits him very well...

Lambiel's SP was kind of lethargic. Hope he'll have a great long though.

it was one fall in teh short... and he's still in the running... I don't think it's time to count Johnny out...
