Yes, Miki seems to be skating her SP to "Samson and Delila" and her LP to "Carmen".

This was on Nikkan Sports this morning, 12 hours ago. ..We'll be able to verify her SP choice in the International Counter Match this Saturday. (Miki and Fumie is said to be skating SP, Mao and Rumi LP, but I have some doubts on Mao going LP.)

This is nothing but what the sports paper said at this moment, so personally speaking I can't be totally sure about this LP choice till Skate America, though back in one of her junior seasons Miki did skate to Carmen as EX number.

At the same time, on another paper today (the relatively major "Chunichi"), responding to an interviewer's question on "What's your program this season?", Miki says:
"The SP last season fit me very well, so we chose music of the same kind."
"However, it would be nice if I could make a performance that'll show to some extent improvments from last year, and something in which you can notice different moods or nuances."
"For the Free Program we chose a number that has a story in it, which we didn't last season."

If it really turns out to be Carmen for her LP, Morozov must work very hard to avoid the program from becoming mediocre. I expect him to do it, he can and must put freshness into Carmen.

Well, aside from the fact that we're tired of the music because we've heard it like NINE BILLION AND TWENTY THREE TIMES, really, what difference does it make? Miki is not exactly one of the Masters of Artistic Interpretation, so with her, one piece of music is pretty much as good as any other....

It does seem like people are scared to take a chance on new music. I have grown a little tired of Carmen also.

In an interview with Tarasova, TT said that after Arakawa left TT in the Olympic season to go to Morozov, she begged Arakawa to give up the idea of changing her long program to Carmen and to return to Turandot instead.

Perhaps Ando's Carmen is the one Arakawa was planning.

In a year when she's going to be hard-pressed to retain her world title, she picks this old warhorse of a musical piece? Did she not get the obligatory Carmen out of her system years ago?

What she needed was something to establish an artistic identity for her as a skater, instead, she's chosen the most overused piece of music out there. Disappointed.

Personally I think that Carmen will do her in this season. Here is a word of advice...if you pick a piece of music that someone won and Olympic Gold Medal to (Katrina Witt) then maybe you should pick another piece of music.

Miki Ando skating to Carmen can't be as bad as the dressage musical freestyle I saw this weekend... an 18 Hand horse (that's big) with a 6 foot plus rider (a guy running around 300 pounds) used music from The Nutcracker. Bizaare.

Swan Lake, Tosca, Malaguena and Rhapsody in Blue to come...

totally off topic-- has anyone noticed that when Morozov choreographs Tosca for any skater, he uses the SAME cut? When he did it for Langlois and Archetto, it began with the ending...then returned to E Lucevan... then when he did the same for Yagudin and Kwan, it was the same exact cut...

Carmen does have parts that skaters haven't used to death--I just hope she doesn't use the dramatic "card scene" in her routine.

She already skated to Swan Lake in her first year as Jr.

I am not a big fan of Evan but I did enjoy his Don Jose rendition in Carmen. I could see the men doing the Toreador but not Don Jose. Bravo Evan.

Carmen has many beautiful and rhythmic tunes to play around with. It borders on Operettta rather than Grand Opera. A lady doing Carmen music doesn't have to bat her eyelashes and raise her eyebrows constantly. Give us some innovation!!

well somebody had to skate to it this season. None of the big names have it planned that I know off. It's not really a bad choce for her, and I am really excited about Samon and Delilah. Not sure she has the sultry seductive look for that music, i thought it a better choce for mao, but I am gald that sombody is using it. (S&D, i mean)
