Mirai Nagasu

She was great at NHK--really enjoyed "fierce Mirai" coming out. I also love the fact that, unlike other skaters, she is GOING FOR EVERYTHING and fights even when things are not perfect. I think she is making quite a case for herself for Olympic selection (and she should have been higher than Kostner at NHK, as much as I love Carolina)... I also think Mirai is one of those skaters who moves beautifully to the music and hits the notes with her body and doesn't need to fake pantomime to get things across...

Agreed, especially about the last line. :laugh: I'd love it if she won Nationals. No pressure, girl!

I downloaded them and will post them later after the men's SP for anyone who misses it! She's looking fierce on the 3A-2T-2T cascade combo and pretty Rockin' on her other triple combo jumps!

It’s not part of the Olympic selection criteria like it is in Japan, but Mirai will enter nationals as the top US lady in ISU World Standings (not bad for someone who’s been on the scene for 10 years!). She’s in a better position than she was four years ago, and I think that she has it in her to finish in the top three at nationals/that a top three finish from her would be enough to make the team this season…but we’ll see what happens.

Ok... what is the Norwegian about the guy trying to "drive" to the Olympics? My better half is asking me... I don't speak Norwegian... I think his name is Magnus.... other half says he wants to watch it even without subtitles... any help would be lovely.

I LOVE that she'll still skate on after the Olympics AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE that she's finally seen "Miss Saigon" on Broadway! I hope it has inspired her to bring even more expression and performance quality to her LP!

eta: AND she's been taking Ice Dance lessons from Ben Agosto to improve her skating skills! :luv17:
 
yup i read all this, that was fun. but still what's up with mirai guys? any news or new videos of her amazing triple axel? gosh i'm getting too excited before nationals. i so so hope she will win it. she is superb and amazing hardworker. after what happened in 2014, she still continues to skate and getting better and better! what a girl!
 
I would LOVE to see Mirai excel at Nationals and be first or second. This would be such a great story of determination and perserverance! C'mon Mirai, BE Miss Saigon!
 
The best way to keep up with Mirai is on Instagram. She mostly posts cute dog videos but occasionally shows training clips on her stories.

yeah i know thanks apgold. i meant, guess i saw some facebook page of her group and there her coach posted some videos something like that. or that was her coach's page. don't remember
 
Mirai posted a 3f-3t(really beautiful and big) a 3sal, a 3lz, and a level 4 layback spin on her insta stories from a public skate session today! Love keeping up with Mirai on instagram. I agree it is a great way to see her training. Every couple weeks (sometimes less often sometimes more often) she posts some training clips. They have been pretty impressive! Love that she does this.
