Mirai Nagasu

I still can't believe it. THAT was an Olympic-worthy performance! WELL DONE, MIRAI!!! I'm so proud of you!!:hap93::hap57::hap10::hap85::yahoo::clapper:

No matter what anyone says about Mirai or her skating, no one can take this away from her. That triple axel was beautiful.

So proud to be a Mirai fan after all these years and boo to the naysayers who think she should have retired after 2014.

Perseverance pays off and she can now call herself an Olympic medalist!

I feel like a proud big sis and I haven't got a chance to watch her performance yet! :yahoo:

Go kick some ***** Mirai. The individual medal is in your reach! :hap10:

In Australia, there have been some articles on Facebook about her achievement. So happy for her and she won her medal in style, better late than never ;)

No official video yet, but I've been rewatchig it on NBC. So possible to rewatch if anyone has the NBC stream access.

I thought Mirai was glorious. This is everything she worked so hard for. The presentation was a little lacking but technically it was just stellar. :yahoo:

I thought her presentation was very nice, actually. She's not a big personality or emotive skater like some of my favorite ladies, but she had a beautiful expressive quality and seemed very present.

I didn't get to see the performance and only read about the 3A this morning. Almost spilled coffee all over my keyboard! So proud and happy for Mirai, especially because she's been through so much and waited such a long time for this.
Of course, now everyone will be asking "can she do it again?" and I hope she's able to tune it all out, focus on what she needs to do, and be proud of herself.
:hap57: :hap93:

That was seriously the best triple axel I have ever seen by a women. I know Midori's maybe had more height but Mirai's form is textbook, and it was a MONSTER jump :yahoo:

 The powers that be were no dummies, often focusing on Mirai on the Jumbotron.
(But never giving her name or any hint of her credentials as elite competitor.)

[Off topic, but Ben Jalovick is recognizable as one of the unnamed guest athletes from USFS who performed.
It was a year later on NYE that Josh Farris :ghug: was among the unnamed guest performers.]

- LOL, Mirai apparently was not exempt from auditioning:
