That is ridiculous. Surely the ISU and the GP organising committees should be aware that some skaters will need visas and should send out invitation letters much, much earlier. :scowl: Poor Misha. :-(

It's more than ridiculous. It's STUPID!

The embassies need to get their heads together like now. Or else they'll see many skating fans hating on them.

Hope Misha can resolve his visa issues and skate in France. Extra frustrating for him, since he's now recovered from his foot pain. Shame not to be able to skate, especially due to red tape and not an injury.

Note: I just saw that the issue has been/is being thoroughly discussed on the GP assignments thread - I have been paying only a very desultory attention to The Edge lately, I'm afraid... Though I suppose there is no harm done, as it pertains to Misha's own thread too.

And yes, I do hope all this gets sorted, as it's very upsetting that he has to miss out on competitions - and people miss out on seeing him - due to causes that aren't injury or ill-related, ergo which cannot be helped. (Though it's a good thing he isn't suffering any of those, of course!)

This situation leaves me some questions. I wonder if he is doing his visa in Uzbekistan French embassy or in China? ISU should have sent him invitations earlier. I wonder how they do it in other countries, but 3 visas for 21 days is not very realistic in Uzbekistan. A question arises here: would not Bulgarian and French be the same Schengen visa? Then could not he just get Schengen visa in Bulgarian embassy and ask there for multiple entries since he has later competition in France, which is very normal? If the problem is that he has to go to China in between, then maybe he could get his French visa in Chinese French embassy?

I also wonder why he puts Sofia on more priority than GP Bompard. He is clearly the one who could make GP Final. If he cancelled his Bulgaria instead, he could manage to make his French visa in time. Maybe he still hopes that somehow he will be able to have both of them. Btw. he trains in China, right? Does it mean he has a permanent residenship there? If so, why would he need a visa to go there?

It really sucks that he has to deal with all these stressful and time consuming issues. I wonder who is managing this sort of issues for athlethes from other countries, like Chinese or Russian?

List of Mens competitors for TEB was updated 9th Oct, Misha was removed from the list :-/

So sad...

i really enjoyed it :cheer: and well done for 4T (even though it was UR he ddnt fall)! also who knew he could spin both directions?!

Today Misha announced on his twitter a new SP....:)

Misha Ge @mishageofficial
New SP (3rd one in season), Happy New Year ! #Surprise (P.S. Choreo done by me after CoC, announce today)

Misha has withdrawn from 4CC due to injuries practicing quads. I am just about done with this sport after hearing this. He was the biggest draw for me watching last year. This is becoming ridiculous and FS will start losing even more viewers if these withdrawals continue.

I'm sorry to rant but I'm here to watch beautiful programs and edges like Misha's Ava Maria last year. Those types of programs move me. Save the quad for the X Games!

Completely agreed! How many more lovely skaters will we lose to the XTreme Power Ice Jumping Games. And I swear if I hear one person say "it's a sport", my computer screen will be the worse for the wear.

:sad21:

Come back Misha (and Josh and Jason) and let us see your lovely *skating* programs once more!

Misha has had a very difficult year and has only competed once but will again compete at worlds. I love his programs, persona and artistry so much I've been voting for him everyday for the TCC. If you love Misha like I do, please consider voting for him early and often. Let's show him the love!

Thanks for bumping this up, Tinlizzie. Our Misha has had horrendous luck this year, with visa issues and injuries keeping him from competing, but I can't imagine a skater (other than Jason, and he's already on the team) who embodies the definition of "fan favorite". Go Misha!

I vote every day on my desktop, iPad and phone. I think I am responsible for much of Pennsylvania's love for Misha. ;)
