More Baby boys :)

Has the Steven and Elena thing been confirmed anywhere? I mean this has been a rumor for a while but I haven't seen this info confirmed anywhere? Does anyone know any more about this?

That sounds weird to me, but in the system where I live, the guy can get nailed for child support whether there is a marriage or not. In Russia, is it a question of resources for their collection procedures, or, are the laws drafted to make men liable for child support only if there is a marriage?
If people are not married, but the father wants to be the father, then when the baby is born, still only the mother's name appears on the birth certificate; then, the father files the paperwork officially "recognizing" the child, and thus becomes the legal father. Most people don't bother with this, and it's basically impossible to prove who the child belongs to. The state is not going to pay for the DNA test, and it's too expensive for most people anyway (my friends have no idea what the court would do if actually presented with such evidence; they haven't heard of such a thing happening ever). Actually, the official child support doesn't work too well either (though this is getting better as the economy improves) - for most people there is the salary they officially receive (the one their employer pays a tax on), and the one that they actually get. Therefore, even if the court makes the father pay a portion of his income, it will be the portion of hisofficial income, not of what he is really earning. The flip side of all this is that, likewise, fathers have very little rights. Just as the society doesn't really condemn the absentee fathers, neither does it condemn the mothers who cut any contact between father and child. And, unless you are Plushenko with an army of lawyers and a name recognized the world over, there is very little that you as a father can do to get decent visitation if that's not what the mother wants (father getting any kind of custody unless the mother is clearly unfit is unheard of).

Yes, it was confirmed all along by people who know them but many didn't believe it is all haha. But anyways, there has been quite a few articles out now for those who prefer it in print all from different sites/ sources.

Ptichka posted an interview with elena, maybe 4 months ago, where Elena confirmed her relationship with Steven. I am pretty sure of that.

Elena and Steven's baby

Someone told me that there is a You Tube interview wiht Elena and Steven about thier baby. I can't access You Tube here at work. Maybe someone can check it out. I also heard that it's in Russian so maybe one of our wonderful translators can check it out and let us know what they said.

Nothing much in the clip. Elena is going back to Russia with the baby in a few weeks, but she is also talking about planning to live together with Steven.

Thanks Yana. Sorry, I converted pounds to kilos instead of kilos to pounds :o

translation of the rest of the article

Lena Berezhnaya presented herself a son to her 30th Birthday

Olympic Champion of SaltLakeCity gave birth in London

Elena Berezhnaya went to London to give birth because of a simple reason: her civil husband, famous figure skater and 8 times Britain Champion is an Englishman. They met at the 2002 at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City for the first time, and they met each other lots of times after that, and started to live together in civil marriage. And so, on the Saturday night Olympic champion gave birth to a son in one of London's hospitals.

We called to Elena's partner and friend, Anton Sikharulidze.

- I'm very glad for Lena! - Anton said to "Komsomolka" (name of the russian newspaper)
- And I'm really pleased that she became a mother. Every woman should become a mother.

As Sikharulidze said, he knew that Lena should have give birth, and he was calling her during the whole weekend but she didn't answer.

- Finally, she called me by herself and made me happy. I was so excited that I even forgot to ask about the baby's height and weight. But the main thing was that he is healthy!

The coach of "golden pair" Berezhnaya-Sikharulidze, Tamara Moskvina, was more alert concerning this question:

"Lenochka told me that the baby's height is 53 cm, weight - 3300 gr. (7.2 lbs) And he was given a name already - his name is Tristan.
