Nathan Chen

I agree the materials are good quality and show off his lines well. Doesn't seem to go well with Nemesis but I think it could actually go well with Parachute.

Whole heartedly agree!

On a more shallow note, the cut is super slimming. I may noted his previous coal stirrup pants and blousy top really accentuated how muscular those quad thighs are, and now he looks super long limbed.

Speaking of Nathan's personal clothes taste,
I spotted a trend. don't know if it is the sponsor NIKE, or of his own liking.
the clothing he usually wore these days is simple and without much frills type of NIKE stuff sometime geometric modern cut (not a fashionistas, hope you know what I mean). sorta of sporty chic?
it sometimes reminds me of US sport luxury brand fashion piece
Maybe that IS Nathan Boi's taste.
According to the article, he seems involved and enjoyed the design.

Yeah, I find the pants to be really flattering because the pants he tended to use before made his ankles look tiny compared to his thighs but these new pants balance that out much more nicely so he does looks really long limbed. Good pants, terrible everything else, though. Would rather they'd only made a new FS costume; the SP looked fine as it was for the type of song choice.

Wishing for Nathan to feel better for the FS. Go get that second National title!

yes, it reallly surprised me. Nathan's legs looked soooo long limbed

Remember Nathan Boi likes to wear BAGGY pants during practice, that is my impression of his sexy legs.

But I LOVE long thin legs as well.

Genetically, Nathan Boi is blessed with long limbs and long fingers too. kinda like a dancer (his ballet teacher said so) although he is not particular tall, but looked really tall and MAJESTIC (巍) on pics

Yes the pants is the only good part, it caught my eyes once Nathan stepped onto the ice,

my personal design for Nathan's long is a low opening back collar, like those used in Geisha's kimono (notice it is the back collar). front could be any (deep V or any sexy design).

From Brooke Castille’s IN interview after the short program:

On "watering down" his program with two quads and score of 104: I was a little sick before this event, I didn’t really have the same exact training that I wanted to have coming into this event, so I figured that this would be the smarter approach: keep my body healthy. I have a lot more to do this season, so make sure that I’m peaking there.

Where did the curls go? Honestly, I loved the curls, and I’m definitely going to grow them back after the season. But I’m thinking that it matches the program a little bit better: a little bit cleaner, a little bit sharper. And the trademark curls will come back at some point in time, but right now this is what I got.

So kind of good news, ehhh news?

I like the old outfit more. I don't mind the new outfit. Seems more fitting to the 80s, it's like he's about to do compulsory figures. LOL!

There was an 80s Tron feel. If the costume had started glowing all of a sudden I might have enjoyed it more, actually. Now that would have been epic.

Prayer circle for his FS costume.

I would've died. Yes, please something simple and nice.

Vera Wang is overrated. She was an elegant fairy queen and all in sudden turn wannabe minimalist. Her men collections are not even well design. The suit jackets are too short and the arm aren't perfectly fitted(according to my hubby and friends). Her figure skating career are far too gone to related with the new generations.

He should go to one of many Asian American/Canadian designers like Jason Wu, Thakoon or Prabal Gurung. Hip and not too much not too little.

Though I do like simplicitiy and clothes with geometric shapes/cuts… that new costume with the shorter hair really doesn’t go neither with the music nor the choreo…
gives him such a streamlined and sleek look, but his actual movements are so expressive and unrestrained and have this casual, almost sloppy aesthetic to them, while still looking skillful (which I love so much about his skating, I don’t see anyone else skating like that ).

Apart form the bad fit with his skating, I don't like the design on its own either... makes him look like a reverend… that white stripe in the middle is kinda like a graphic slim white tie, which at times makes it look like a super simplified suit, but… it’s mostly reverend for me. :ohwell:

Something else:

I have been wondering about Nathan's warm-up routine, maybe someone here knows and can explain this to me.
So I noticed that he usually starts out with a single revolution jump from a right back outside edge, where he doesn't go in a backspin position, but instead keeps his free leg by his side, pointing it behind himself (actually quite similar to a walley jump).
Can be seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iXgNKdbYEE&t=0m26s

What would be the goal of such an exercise? Especially forgoing the classic backspin position? Because it seems to me like this is supposed to ease him into the dreaded Axel…?

Nathan does the same warm up routine in every practice.

first a couple of edges then that walley thingy then single Axel (he feels the axel LFO a lot) then double or triple jumps, he occasionally will also do a big circle cross over edges in the middle of rink.

His warm up routine is partially similar to Ashley's

I may have a video clip of his warm up routine from my source.

I will link here when it is ready.

I don't know why his warm up routine is arranged like so though.

I'm so sad about Nathan's hair and costume :( Where are his gorgeous curls? Well, at least they are coming back in the future. But what's with that costume? I adore his SP this year, but this costume really doesn't match there. Now, he just reminds me of Boyang (and I like Boyang, but I want some diversity).

I'm happy about the hair change. Now when I watch him, I can focus my attention on the great skating rather than the great hair!

Practice is over and Jackie doesn't know what nathan`s planned layout is. Probably some combination of 4f, 4t, and 4s.

 Well, there's that...

I'm curious which triple he's gonna do... is he gonna leave out the 3Lz...? I'm just so sad that his Lutz seems to be "gone", I love his Lutz! It'd be a relief if he at least did the 3Lz...

I really don't know if it's gone - he just had it a few weeks ago at the GPF. I'm torn with it being because he's been sick and he is just trying to conserve himself or if he really does have an ankle injury (because remember when he had one after Worlds and he took out the 4lz at the WTT...)

I'm just hoping he has the stamina to put out a quality program tomorrow. I think he should just do two 4f's and two 4t's. His hit rate of them seems pretty good, that one practice not withstanding. His 4s, not so much. I saw a quote on Twitter that said it was from Tara Lipinski (I didn't see it so I can't speak to the accuracy of it) where she said she spoke to Raf and he said he's been sick since getting back from Japan and he came to Nationals still coughing - and Raf asked him what they were going to do and Nathan said, we're going to compete, I will compete.

Tara did say that during the Grp. 4 warm-up (Skip to 0:50.)
