something about Nathan's innate musicality is unbelievable,
No matter how he randomly changes his jumping layout, he can always land his jump on (subtle) music note!
EDIT:
watch this dance (Chinese classic dance: 水墨孤鹤 water ink solitary crane)
https://www.bilibili.com/video/av11712443/#page=2
can compare to Nathan's COR choreo only FS practice

Nathan created some fluid, flowing, soft, asymmetric, irregular curvy lines (with constrast to sharp defined/precise music timing) that is quite similar to the feelings of Chinese classic dance. According to the lovely fan interview of Nathan in the send-off dinner. The choreo was intended to be a bit modern from the beginning, in terms of dance elements incorporated, it is indeed quite modern with infusion of other styles/genres, which like Nathan said in previous interview (it has some relation to his ballet dance root but not exactly, I think Nathan or Team Nathan rarely talk about(advocate) his programs... So, thanks to those precious fan interviews)
Also, another thing to notice from the above Chinese classic dance is that crimson line start from the male dancer's neck down his spine.
I kinda get the use of bling shining zipper in the back of Nathan's FS costume, it may meant to invoke some level of intangible SEXY appeal, (remember this sexy back/spine

)
The front design is really good actually, as I suggested earlier it may meant to resemble water ink brush painting (brush dance is part of Nathan's FS music) as it clearly shown in this gorgeous photo
https://wx2.sinaimg.cn/mw690/49583323gy1fndmeok2r0j20u00u0dkt.jpg Actually a couple of Chinese fans already started to make the connection.
Overall, I think new dress really enhanced Nathan's overall body lines and the brush stroke pattern design on his upper body is actually quite genius. this pattern/shade(horizontal brush stroke with subtle shade difference) has the best aesthetic, flattering visual effect on Nathan. also smartly covered Nathan's pit staining

also authentically reminiscent of Chinese water ink brush stroke yet at the same time has a modern feeling.
Maybe the shining zipper could be designed better?
Also another thing which is perhaps not quite good is that new costume(US national performance with new costume) makes Nathan's movement appeared a bit rigid. lacked the original fluid/floating/flowing, organic feel that so many fans resonate with. And it covered Nathan's beautiful fingers and wrist movement. however it indeed elongated Nathan's arm lines...
Also less exposure of that sexy dancer's neck (a.k.a swan neck, in China we say Crane neck)
