I don’t even necessarily get annoyed, just find it strange lol. I think he’s like many first generation immigrant Americans, where ofc there will be strong American influences in some ways but it’s more on the surface like the way they dress, speak, mannerisms whereas their heritage has a stronger hold on them internally such as what they prioritize, how they think, what they value, how they actually conduct their lives. That’s just something I’ve noticed from my own experience and observations.
So Nathan def talks, dresses, has regular interests that are typical American but his ambition, goals, priority on education, athletics, music, and emphasis on overachieving is more influenced by his Chinese background as all his siblings are based on what he’s said of his family/parents. That’s why I find assigning him these typically (white if we’re being honest) American characteristics on him very random. But it’s not a huge deal, I just always find it
