I hope that's the strategy. Also my biggest hope is for him to finally realize that it's a much better route to focus on improving the quality/GOEs of his jumps rather than adding more and more BV. Especially now with the +/-5 system, it's so much easier for others to rack up gigantic GOEs on their well done elements that more than make up for the relatively easier technical content they have. Focusing on GOEs instead of adding more quads is not only more efficient scoring-wise, better for his own development, but also decreases chances of injuries. People already know he can do all these different quads, now it's time to prove that he can integrate them seamlessly into his programs.
Yeah, but I'm also kinda worried that he might go for a 5 quad LP with a 4S, 4Lz, 4F, 3A, 4T, 4T, 3Lz layout... :noshake:
I think it's interesting that with the new rules, yes, the penalty for botched elements is much higher (especially when said element is a quad), but also, when you're getting positive GOE on a high-scoring element such as a quad, it can level out the negative impact of another quad or 3A that has gone wrong, because the reward is also much higher than it was before... this is something that was particularly noticeable with Shoma's last outings.
And that's why skaters with more or less stable quads that they can do consistently in competition, still have quite the incentive to do them.
And even though Nathan's quads aren't always perfect, there's usually one or two that are pretty well executed, and earn him quite decent GOE and could potentially make up for 1-2 bad jumps. So if he's going for quantity, it'll really depend on the ratio of badly vs. well executed quads...
Can you point to me the rocker step you are referring to?

He's also done the same combination of a BO rocker into FO mohawk in his StSq in last season's LP:

I love how the execution is different in each program, depending on the style and aesthetics of the choreo. Like in Caravan, it looks like he's going to fall over backwards, expecially when he's playing it up and acting a bit, the way he did during CoI, and it fits so well into the whole idea of the program. That's why such details matter and transitions are important imo, and he shouldn't leave those out the way he did during SA.
