Nathan Chen

I can agree he won't get those PCS internationally, but I think he would get most of those GOE. What does that 4lz deserve if not a +5?

Congratulations to Nathan! WOW when he skates like that he is unbeatable.
Fabulous SP and FS! That my friends is how you make a statement!

Its geo blocked for international viewers:(, hope someone posts a version the rest of us can see

Um... not sure I am allowed to post this, but: I couldn't watch it either, but I was able to download it nevertheless with um, you know... there are ways to do that...

Insane, Nathan. Just insane to deliver this kind of results while not even training full-time. Who could have thought that having to combine serious studying and skating without the presense of a coach will result in his most stable season yet? I'm in awe.

And yet Chen’s coach, Rafael Arutunian, refused to get carried away after his skater easily became the first man since Johnny Weir in 2006 to win three straight men’s national titles.

“I am not completely satisfied,” Arutunian said Sunday. “There is so much more he can do.

“He didn’t do a quad Salchow. I still want him to try a quad loop. This was a program he has executed before. You always like to improve.”

Chen was not surprised by hearing Arutunian’s comments.

“Raf is always the overachiever,” Chen said. “That’s why I am with him. Of course, there are things I can improve on.”

Also sounds like Nathan may choose to skip class closer to Worlds.
Chen knows there are times when something has to give. He is skipping February’s Four Continents Championships, even though they are taking place in Anaheim, Calif., just down the road from Arutunian’s training base in Irvine.

If Chen has to miss class time, it likely would be more valuable for him to do it for training time with his coach closer to worlds.

That is what Arutunian wants.

Quick question, guys: If we shave off at least 30 points (aka "inflation" points according to the sour grapes on YouTube) from Nate's total score, would that make him any less of a gold medal threat at int'l events to You-Know-Who (sorry if this sounds like Voldemort. But really, the way people treat him is like he's a saint and Nate is unworthy of comparison)? I made the mistake of scrolling through the comments and I feel so bad for the poor fans whose parade is getting rained on by the Other Prominent Male Skater's fans even as of this writing. I don't really follow the other one's career/scores/TES & PCS trends to make an informed guess.

30 points? lol Well, it's better than the person who redid his scores so that it would be 100 points lower.

But no, it doesn't. youtube is a cesspool of salty fans. Even with the negativity it has not stopped me from repeatedly watching his SP and FS on youtube. This kind of thing just happens when you have two skaters (or more) who compete against each other. It's a shame since the skaters themselves are so nice and complimentary towards each other.

Well, I scaled the PCS back at least 10 points for each program and took out 1 point for each TEs again for both SP and LP and it put the so-called "inflation" and then I capped it at around 30. Don't get me wrong. I don't think he should get 30 points less. Just wondering what You-Know-Who's fans are so worried about. They say Nate will NEVER be as magnificent as You-Know-Who is but always feel the need to almost physically reassure themselves by sullying Nathan's YT comment section. I mean, some people say Uno or Kolyada are nipping at Nate's heels but I've NEVER seen Nathan fans say stuff like "Uno/Kolyada will never be as good as Nathan" (probably 'cause our boy gives us a considerable amount of security both tangible and intangible).

Oh my goodness! Me too! 😍😍😍 I think I've seen the free at least 7 times today! That was ethereal yet manly skating in my opinion!

Thank you for the response! 😘

It really is a shame :( I’m sad that the most aggressive ones will always be the loudest. I just hope that whatever the fans or judges or any third person does will not effect people’s opinion on the skaters themselves. Like you said, they are so nice towards each other and a friendly rivalry will help push them further.

Anyways, as I’ve said many times before, so much respect for Nathan for being able to balance school and skating. Perhaps having to balance Yale is actually better for him? I remember Brezina talking about himself when someone asked why he is doing better this season and he said it’s because there’s something else to focus on apart from skating (his wife  ) Perhaps that is also the case with Nathan?

Amazing performances by him this weekend. I'm so relieved to see him doing so well after being worried how he would balance things.
