Nathan Chen

Aww, the poor kid. How dare he to not wear it lol. Can you imagine Nathan packing for US Nats, going through his luggage like "Gotta make sure and remember to bring the flower crown, in case the gift givers will attend..."?

I only say yes to a tango program, if it's done with a modern or creative twist, and more subtle. Not if it's a rehash of stereotypical, run-of-the-mill tango. :noshake:

Haha not exactly like that. I guess he didn’t want to wear their flower crown at GPF, neither did Shoma. Here’s the banner:

I agree with this about a tango program. Not tango, but I secretly (or not so secretly now lol) would love to see him do Shoma’s SP step sequence.

I see, now I get it. But didn't he wear it backstage at GPF, for laughs? I mean, that's rude indeed haha, not posting a picture of that. :p

I love that StSq in itself, but I don't enjoy the choreo that comes along with it. It's just not my style or maybe it's Shoma's execution of it, not sure. So in that sense it would be fun to see Nathan's interpretation of it, because the way him and Shoma move on the ice and execute a given choreo is so very different. Although on first impression, Shoma's style seems better suited for that music.

I get very giddy every time 'Nathan', 'SP' and 'Tango' are all in the same sentence. I look forward most to what his "tango hands" will look like - as ridiculous as that sounds. And of course the step sequence, too. But what tango music should he skate to? Libertango choreographed by Shae -- please?

That drunk commentary - lol

Thanks sheetz for the reminder - Nathan currently has 45% of the vote.

I'd heard of that piece before, but decided to read it because Nathan's story intrigued me so much. And it is a very good and thoughtful piece.

I don't want to make too many assumptions about Nathan's personal politics since he is very diplomatic and circumspect about saying too much lol, but this combined with his choice to perform Land of All does make me think he is a very socially aware and empathetic young man when it comes to social justice. Again... won't read too much into it, but it is nice and refreshing to see in a young public figure :)

Not to take away from any (possible)meaning of his Land of All program - but I believe Nathan said he was inspired to choose this song from seeing Jeremy Abbott’s ex program.

Regardless of political beliefs, Nathan seems to be a very thoughtful and open-minded person.

Alice commented on Nathan’s post:
‘... nathan gets embarrassed when HIS OWN FAMILY sings his praises ... the deference he shows in his interviews is the same he shows behind closed doors when the cameras are gone.’

He’s genuinely very humble.
