I am doing a graduation video movie for someone who I don't know (it's through a friend of friend) but it's suppose to be a surprise for her daughter. The problem is the mother doesn't know much as I don't either about the music chosen. Here's my problem, one of the music choices is Graduation (Friends Forever) by Vitamin C. When I go to Itunes to purchase it just has Graduation by VC, not Friends Forever. Since I don't know the music myself, I don't know if there are 2 different songs. There are other songs listed as Graduation (Friends Forever) but not by VC. Could someone let me know about this,  please, please.

I would say "friends forever" is the added title of the song by the students. ???? just a guess though.

yup - same song...

if you need more suggestions for songs PM me... I can help you out with a few others... as I did graduations slideshows for a few years (even before I graduated high school lol)

Dancindiva03, thank you. I just wanted to make sure.

Toni, I sure will take you up on your offer. Thanks.

On to Itunes to make my purchases.

Another song that would be great for such a video is "Time Of Your Life" I think by Green Day? They played that in our graduation video, as well as Graduation and I Will Remember You.

yes it is a Green Day song

"You Raise Me Up" is another one that is requested a lot.

If you've got a series with a lot of 'group photos' - "You've Got A Friend in Me" works as well :)

Also for some humor and yet sappy times "Saying Goodbye" by the Muppets works extremely well!

Changes, David Bowie is still the best IMO ("Higher Love" was my year) and you are using that Viti C tune from their request?? My High School just used it for their class last year.

If "You Rase Me Up" was my theme I would have protested. Separation of church and state. Nice song, TOTALLY inappropriate forum for it's use.

IMHO, "You Raise Me Up" does not have to be religious in meaning. Its all in your interpretation. I think of it as an expression of inspiration and support, not necessarily from some god but maybe from a friend, someone who is there for you in a time of need.

Nice thought you interpret it to say - both are nice IMO - And maybe people do separate it from the religious implication. But this is 'sposed to be about the entire student body. And there are plenty of songs that do not have that connection that fit everyone.;) "You Raise Me Up" is written around that meaning, not just a mention in a song. It is the song.

This little light of mine, Swing low, yes, you could take these songs and make a different meaning then intended by the "author" but people are likely to interpret them as religious songs.

What would you say the percentage of people listening to it to find out the meaning would interpret it to be? Your are right, you don't have to, but most do. A cross sometimes is not interpreted / used religiously, but it more often than not will leave people thinking religious. Good or evil.

IMO, Cindy Lopers song "True Colors" even used for the 8 billionth time show more respect to the ENTIRE student body. You can't please everybody all the time, but when there are a number of options that are readily available and do not have to be "re-themed" it is just courteous to those other students who may or may not take offense, but why run that risk when it is not necessary.

When the opportunity is so prevalent to advocate for peoples rights, I think the steps should be taken. It is not as though there is a loss of good songs out there that "fit the bill.";)

If you want to have everyone crying, reflecting, emotional and a good song, break out "The Age of Innocence" Enya. Used but will always get the hearts and eyes flowing.:agree:
