He used the term Americans. I took that to mean Americans. In a previous paragraph, he was speaking about how the media was doing their job. It's hard enough dealing with the world's false view of us as a people. Having someone I have supported and defended add to the BS about the country I love really offends me.

And i can totally understand why you'd take offence, for the record, i'm not taking Johnny's opinion on Americans as the definitive stance on all Americans, so you can rest assured i'm not tarring you with the johhny brush!

IIRC, Johnny specifically said that the mentality was shared by the "once-every-four-year-fans", so he was including other Americans, besides the media. However, American marketers hire athletes to do endorsements or serve as celebrity spokes-persons, when those athletes are deemed by the public to have qualities that they want to have associated with their company (i.e., Sasha -- glamour; Michelle -- longevity, wholesomeness; etc.); they do not hire athletes who the public sees as "losers" and don't respect. So, the marketability of Michelle and Sasha merely shows that Americans are not as restricted as Johnny thinks that they are.

It could also be that johnny isn't thinking about endorsements since its the ladies who get endorsements and not the men? From his point of view you can do or say anything including winning olympics gold and you'd never get the endorsements or money that the ladies get, even ones who haven't won gold!

The only better town name is Bad Axe, Michigan -- where all those Michigan bad-axes come from.
