No season of FS is complete without:

Me reminding you that, no matter how much you ooh and aah over the current crop, none of these men can compare with John Curry.

Someone else chiming in to say they're not as good as Toller Cranston either. (Which is also true).

And, finally, me reminding you that the elimination of school figures means that this will forever be the case.

I hadn't done that this season... so that's off my to-do list.

-talks of ______-flation
-dilemmas about Ladies US figure skating
-Russian ice dance...which sometimes is mostly about I/Z and S/K
-who is Japan's number one lady
-D/R vs. the pairs world
-PCS fights
-who is the next Russian baby superstar
-Everybody Hates Kovtun....oh I mean Chris
-Where is Plushy

No season of FS is completed without:

- A thread for people to complain about Johnny and Tara (which I don't disagree with BTW!)
- A new youngster being overly hyped up (whether in a certain country or by a group of people)
- Over-the-boot-tights driving people crazy
- Hilarious judging

This is supposed to be a light-hearted thread. Don't take it too seriously... welcome if you guys contribute your comments.

No season of figure skating is completed without...

1) Didier's ridiculous statements.

2) British commentators declaring skater X or skater Y as "The greatest of all time"

3) Discussion threads about the most beautiful/handsome skaters ;)

4) Complains about "artistry", the scoring and placements. :noshake:

5) Blade of Passion's whining about the judging system

6) CanadianSkaterGuy's lengthy posts against his buddy BoP.

To be continue...

Number 5 hahaha

controversies about who should be selected for the world team
pcs inflation

Many posts from people who want to start figure skating at an "advanced" age (however that is defined).

Realistic posters telling them that they can certainly skate and enjoy it, but will not become world-class or land a quad.

Other posters telling the realistic posters that they are mean old grinches, crushing the dreams and sucking the life out of would-be skaters, and the best (only) way to motivate people is to say that if they just work hard enough and dream big enough and use a little pixie dust, they'll be able to land a quad and go to the Olympics.

No season will be complete without Miss Zayak's seasonal visits to the doctor for unexplained itches that occur everything her name is mentioned.

Can you ask Elaine to pass her doctor's number to Adam Rippon.. Adam has had the same condition of late, and it's only expected to get worse.

I will from this point onward describe myself as an advanced aged skater who crushes dreams. But none of us want to crush anyone's dreams, we just want to encourage realistic goals. Those dreams are just as valuable and just as special.

As for the topic

An elaborate post defending and arguing against tano's.

No season of FS is completed without someone opening a thread to officially declare the imminent, unavoidable, irreversible, catastrophic, and apocalyptic end of Figure Skating as we know it.

Numerous posts expressing a desire to force-feed sandwiches to a female pair-skater

Complaints about overuse of or mismatch of illusion fabric

One or more threads about overused "warhorse" musical selections

Complaints about front-loading programs

Complaints about back-loading programs (last 2 years only)

Exhaustive speculation about team event rosters/substitutions

I used to be able to say, "No figure skating season is complete until the various skating tours and shows come to town." :(

Can't we just sum up this entire discussion by saying No season of FS is complete without the goldenskate.com forum?

1. Ear-destroying music choices and the endless piles of complaints about them.

2. That one warhorse that gets beaten to death above all others and the endless piles of complaints about it.

3. Someone having a superb showing at an early-season competition and being pegged to win everything, only to start headcasing tragically a month later.

4. Suggestions from fans that at least different twelve skaters should switch coaches to train with Brian Orser.

5. A new world record, and <58,000 people being mad about it.

6. Invisiblespiral's amusing fictionalized takes on strange happenings in the skating world.

7. Someone besides Anna having a season-long bout of CPS (Chronic Pogo-Splatting).

8. A former headcase suddenly becoming consistent and awesome and winning everything.

9. Random withdrawals that lead to fifteen pages of speculation about why the skater pulled out.

10. Weird posts in the Dreams thread in Le Cafe.

11. That one event that LITERALLY EVERYONE WITHDRAWS FROM.

12. Amusing posts from sleep-deprived fans who are pulling all-nighters to watch skating and are so tired they're barely coherent.

13. Mutual crying over pairs/dance team splits.

14. Quad innovation on a previously-unprecedented scale, blowing everyone's minds (and, in the case of the actual skaters, knees).

15. Scary injuries.

16. Someone comparing one of Yuzuru Hanyu's costumes to a vegetable.

17. Getting attached to 11-year-old Russian novices, despite our better judgement.

And I'm sure there are more...
