Nobunari Oda

I'm replicating Magill's post from Yuzuru Hanyu's Fan Fest, because it's from Nobunari Oda, who believed that Yuzuru kun was there:

I'm reposting this podium from Kazuki Tomono's Fan Fest (thank you KiraraChin!), congratulations to Nobunari Oda on his Silver Medal at the All-Osaka competitiion!

Thank you! I embed it:

Anyway, congratulations for his third place!
Do you know what rank he must earn, to participate in National Championships?

Congratulations to Nobunari Oda, for having gained a place in the Kinki Regional Championship ranking, ending with Silver.
He seems to have a mostly clean Free Skating, apart from a q call on his 4T.
We will see him at All-Japan National Championships!

Nobu's beautiful skates at the National Winter Sports Festival 2024. Nobu won 3rd place in individual senior men, and first place overall for team Osaka with Kazuki Tomono 🫶

Nobu on Twitter: I won the adult men's competition in Osaka, and came in 3rd place in the individual competition! I felt the difficulty of the competition again, but it was a competition where I could feel that I have grown since last year! Thank you for your support! Next weekend I will be competing in Osaka, and at the end of the month I will be in Shiga for Prince Ice Worlds, so I will continue to practice hard 👍 Even though is tough! LOL!

Nobu and Kazuki at the victory ceremony:

Shoma's assessment on Nobu, as we are approaching Japanese Nationals:

Machine Translation:

"At the age of 37, Nobunari is on the battlefield. I wonder how his mind approaches competitions. I think it is harder than we imagine. He is the hardest worker. It takes more practice than when you are younger, to finish such a hard program at that age. He is also a skater who chooses the music for the program that makes the audience look forward to another one."

Also Nobu's part includes him saying "I am a 37-year-old quad jumper! I hope to be the first person to do a quadruple at the age of 37!"

Fun trivia: If Nobu manages to land a quad / quad combo (whether 4T or 4T3T) with positive GOE in his SP at Nationals, it would be THE FIRST TIME he's landed a quad in his SP with a positive GOE at Nationals (he fell or popped it during his singles career back in 2011-2013). So... good luck!!!

Congratulations to Nobunari Oda, who arrives four overall with 234.68, although his Solo 4T was underrotated (but he didn't fall anywhere!)
I hope that this could mean a spot for Four Continents Championships.
I think that his Short Program is here?

Edit : his Short Program starts about 5min50 (6min40 for the program itself). His 3A is one of the very highest; Yuzuru Hanyu having left competitive skating, I wonder if it's not the highest in the present field? And fully rotated, as well as both his 4T and 3T in the combination.
Just after, Rio Nataka, 21 years his junior, has the same jump layout (4T+3T, 3A, 3Lz) and also a Latin program; there's potential but the difference in experience does see!

Championships assignments have arrived, and the fourth at All-Japan Championships has no assignment at all... I wasn't hoping a Worlds assignment, it wouldn't have been sound, but I did hop a 4CC assignment; and with the depth of field in Men in Japan, JSF decided to send Tatsuya Tsuboi to both, of all Men... I'm really angry for this choice, Oda Nobunaga isn't even a substitute at any of these events!

Nobu hasn’t competed internationally since 2013, and as a result does not have the technical minimum scores to be qualified for 4CCs. I don’t think his goal was ever returning to international competition.
