Notte Stellata | Mar 7-9, 2025

I had always read that the suppression of the backward cross rolls, which everybody loved, was due to the change in length of the Free Skating for Men, which lost 30s? So, the transitions had to become shorter...

Yeah, but here it seems both Yuzu and Shae Lynn seem to attribute it openly and in agreement to the scoring system and the lack of point reward....

Another great review from ninomiyasports of Mansai and Yuzuru's collab in Bolero, described here as the "Mystery of the In-Between" :love2:

And BTW, just a little reminder that 2nd part of the Mansai - Yuzu talk on Mansai's talkshow on NHK Radio 1, the one to be focused on the Seimei collaboration, is to be aired tomorrow, right? Can't wait for this feast again.

The official Notte Stellata account is inviting Japanese and overseas fans to watch and enjoy the "Making of" Mansai-Yuzuru Seimei collaboration for the show to be first broadcast on NNN TV and then posted on their official YouTube channel straight afterwards, on Wednesday, April 16. Hooray!!!

The backward cross rolls were part of the first version of the step sequence of Seimei. Yuzuru performed this version at Autumn Classics, where he received a level 2 for the step sequence. Shae-Lynn and Yuzuru then changed the step sequence so it could get higher levels, and the backward cross rolls disappeared.

So the backward cross rolls only appeared once in competition, then were removed to satisfy level requirements for the step sequence.

And here's the announced "Making of Notte Stellata's Seimei" by TV Asahi on their official YouTube channel, a backstage story on the epic collaboration by Yuzuru and Mansai Nomura, the kyogen master who played Seimei in the movie from which the music is taken. No English subtitles yet. Knowing them, they will be added in some time. As for now, you can use the YT machine translation tool. FYI, what it translates as "Life" is "Seimei" :)
Thank you TV Asahi :thank::thank::thank:

And the radio talk which is about to start on NHK, Nomura Mansai inviting Yuzuru Hanyu, will evoke their Towa 2025 Notte Stellata Seimei in this second installment.

Here's a great article based on this talk between them on Radio 1 last Monday *(reposting from Yuzu FF).

"Seimei" who preached the necessity of dominating the place, and "SEIMEI" who mastered the art

- is the title alluring to the two impersonating the same historic figure of Seimei with the tools of their respective fields in the past separately, and lately - together.
"This song saved me" - said Yuzu meaning how it changed his whole mindset about what a skating program should be.
This, I think, should be read along with their earlier discussion about two types of dance in Japanese culture - recreational dance and ritual dance - in the context of Notte Stellata's Bolero.

This interview of two great athletes talking will be broadcast again by NHK tonight with previously unseen footage (difficult to say if it will be more of talking or more of the show or BTS footage), Anyway, great to watch, and hopefully we will have it posted by NHK afterwards again!
Some of Notte Stellata's Bolero and Seimei footage included!

Two part interview with Mansai Nomura has been posted by DeepEdge/kyodonews, partly behind a paywall, but partly for free.
For me, the most surprising part is him revealing that at some point they contemplated turning a Zamboni's roof into a stage for Noh performance in the middle of the rink - so that the stage could be easily transported on and off the ice without damaging the ice surface, and yet taking a central place, close to the audience, during the performance itself.
It did not come to that and simpler measures proved sufficient to provide Nomura-san with a proper stage, as we know now, but I must say I find the idea of using Zamboni this way quite entertaining....

I am not sure if it's been posted here before, but Roki Sasaki is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher currently signed with the Dodgers. He was born and raised in Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture, in the Tohoku Region. He was only nine when he lost his father, grandparents, friends, and his home in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. ⁣⁣😥💔
