Anastastia Makarova had a fun program! Complete with a flapper dress. 
OMG...they're playing Bolero over the highlights, with lyrics! I don't remember hearing lyrics before...I'm kinda into it to be honest.

Well it was super different you have to admit that! I wonder why some competitions play different music over the highlights whilst others replay the song the skater skated to. Does it have to do with rights?
The senior ladies are up next, I didn't realise Rina Ryabova was here! Apparently she choreographed her new free program, I'm intrigued and hope to see it! (Although I've been going to bed way too lae recently so I might have to miss her
)

I did! Although I only saw the last group of ladies, so I haven't been here too longgood afternoon everyone! missed me?
The highlight replay music is pretty funny - there was "I Cast a Spell on You" and "I'll Take Care of You" and some other well known songs of figure skating. Just in case we missed them I guess!

It's interesting indeed. Is it purely due to the accessibility of ice rinks in Russia do you think? I know there's only about 20 ice rinks in Aussie land, so access is limited indeed! I guess having so many champions lately also helps (didn't lots of little girls get inspired by Yulia L at Sochi for example).

probably a mix of both things. Carolina gave some popularity to the sport here in italy but i don't see crowd of little girls fighting for internarional gold, but i guess it's also because we have just a few rinks in the north of the country and our school and sport system is totally different.

Sufficient number of rinks helps, certainly, but look at our Sáblíková. There is no permanent long track arena in the Czech Republic (and several attempts to build one always ended with the lack of financing) and still she belongs among the GOAT in heer sport. Of course she is an exceptional talent, but the talent itself is not enough. She traind where it was possible, normal ice rinks (with limited time), frozen lakes, only later she was able to train abroad with professional background. It's the commitment to the sport as well as the talent and opportunities.
