Yikes. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly forms of cancer. My family lost a friend to it this past summer at age 55. I hope things go better for Swayze.

From what I understand (which is very little) this type of cancer is basically one that you don't trully win. You might beat it into remission and live for several years, but it eventually wins... which is sad...

here's hoping whatever time he trully has left is as pain free as possible... I've always liked him as a person even when his movies were less than steallar (his brother is also a very good character actor)

He made a name for himself in Kenai, AK back before I lived down there... we passed by the house he rented every day when going to school in high school lol

Oh heck, I'm so sad to read this news. I LOVED Patrick in Dirty Dancing, one of my all-time-favorite movies!

My FIL was stricken with pancreatic cancer...it's nasty...he had an operation and treatments and battled it bravely for 10 months before it finally took him.

I think what Toni posted about pancreatic cancer being basicly unbeatable is right...remissions happen, but I don't think you ever really "win" this particular cancer battle.

Isn't pancreatic cancer what Michael Landon also died from?

Awful news made worse by the early mis-reports of information on his health status.

I pray that he and his family are able to make the most out of whatever time he has left, be it a few days or a few years or decades. I also hope that time is as pain-free as possible.

Cancer really does suck. It does, however, make you appreciate life.

Yeah, it hit Michael Landon hard & fast. Patrick is someone I've always been very fond of. Sucha talented dancer. I loved ML, I don't want to see Patrick go, too.
