As I was returning home after dropping off my son at school I was stopped at the street that I turn onto to go into my neighborhood. The street I was stopped at is very busy especially in the early morning when everyone is trying to get to work. The speed limit is 55 miles per hour and has 3 lanes on each side. The lane I was in has a left turn signal just for that lane. As the signal turned green I started to make my left hand turn when all of a sudden a truck going about 60 mph sped down the street and ran the red light right in front of me. If I wasn't looking to the right I would have never stopped and the truck would have slammed right into the right side of my car. Lucky for me I slammed on my brakes and just missed getting hit by the truck. Not so lucky was a mother of 4 who just a few months ago had the same thing happen to her. She was hit by a speeding car that ran a red light on the same road that I was on. The mother got killed and the driver that ran the red light had the excuse that she was in a hurry to get to work, she also had been drinking. I feel pretty lucky today (although a little shaken up) that nothing happened.
So please all of you out there DRIVE SAFELY.
