Polina Tsurskaya

I don't think it's a fact. Eteris group is by far and away the most successful when it comes to young ladies right now, but she has zero experience with non-teenage girls, and isn't doing all that well with men in general. These things might change, but as of now, Eteri is the best coach for a specific group of people - not for everyone (like it's the same for every coach). To me, Polina doesn't fit into that group, barely did at any time point, and given how tall she has become and how she's "older" already, Eteri might very well *not* be the best coach for her anymore.
(And I'm saying best coach here purely in terms of results. If the rumors about how she treats her students are true, no results make up for it)
And ofc I can only speak for myself, but I personally like Buyanova and her coaching style quite well. She pays good attention to good basic skating skills (Adelinas were great, Masha has improved under her quite a bit), manages to package their skaters pretty well all around and looks generally very supportive. Polya moving to her makes me very happy, and I think it was a smart move for her in every way. Hopefully she will stay healthy, be happy in CSKA and her & Buyanova will have a lot of success together

(Also, Polya and Masha seem to be really good friends, and I'm happy Polya gets to train with a good friend now too. They're a cute tall & super long-legged skating duo :love: )

Agree with this 100%. I'm excited to see Polina develop and I really think she has potential to be one of the best, artistically. Technically, I'd say she's the top Russian lady at the moment in terms of technique and quality of execution. It's a shame she was so underscored at her GPF events and wasn't chosen for Worlds. I think that itself is a bit shady.

Officially, this waiting is killing me.
The whole day I was very nervous.
And it's trange, because I'm sure she made a good decision.

Underscored ? 210.19 at her first senior GP was a very good result. At Skate America she missed the possibility to be in the final, but unfortunately was her fault alone.

Konstantinova was pushed unreasonably by RusFed, but Polina wasn't clean at nationals, losing positions on the FS, after the third place on the short.

Let's just hope to see a better season from her.

Why do you think that it was a good score for her 210.19 at her 1st senior GP?Just because nobody had expectation from her?Because she went before a very long recovering because her injury?
It was very claen that she was undescored and deserved 2nd place.
At Scate America she missed the SP, but how you can explain the score for the FS?It was very similar with the one from NHK.
About Nationals...again, her SP was undescored.I think that we saw the same programs via internet,no?
The problem was that she were 3rd girl from Eteri's group.
How was Masha better than her?
And about the FS...ok, she ruined the chance popping the lutz, but I don't think that 5rd place was for good the place that she deserved.
Konstantivova was pushed from 2 season by the Fed.What she made?I think that this is not the proper treat to discuss Konstantinova.
I can't forget the photo with Polina and Eteri before her SP.And OMG I was shocked.
Polina said that she was injured after the Nationals.
I wonder how good she really felt then (I mean phisically). And I doubt.
I think that you saw the photo from the galla with that big bandage.
Polina can be awesome even with so little attention, like NHK.
About Worlds...she felt that she didn't made her best at Natioanls and never hopet to take somebody else's place.Even this wasn't Konastantinova's.I think, also, that she would have been neglected by Eteri at Worlds.
But, all those thinks was and were gone.
I hope, too, that she'll have a better season and a coach who support and appreciate her.

I don't think we can say that Polina was robbed from Maria, because GP's results has determined Maria's position over her, especially after the final.

Unfortunately, Skate America's result was season changing for her.

But now we can also say the Polina has an advantage over Sotskova: the Olympics and Worlds disappointing results.
I think that changing coach is also a good choice, even if we still don't know who has choose.

"confirm unofficially" with an old photo.. ;) not that it's not an expected choice.. but no matter how good "friends" Polina and Maria are, they also will be direct rivals for the spot on the Russian team.. I wonder if it's good for Polina to go to the coach whose no.1 will be probably Maria..

They were rivals last year already anyway.

And yes, Polina will likely not be Buyanovas No1. But she'd very likely be higher up the "ranking" there then she was in Sambo70.

But if Polina aims for long term maybe CSKA is good for her.

We don't know that. It's a new Olympic cycle so anything can go. Let's just say she didn't take on any rivals of Sotnikova, including Pogo, until Sot was mostly out the door. Plus as a Maria fan, I'd admit, she's not exactly lighting the World on fire post Nationals so I can see why Buyanova took on new students. And she has a new rink (2 in total) so she has room for more people. I think Polina has a great shot if she nails both her GP events and her Senior B event if she does one. Imagine if Polina makes it to Euro/Worlds? That would be a great eff you to Eteri

Now it will be interesting to see if Buyanova goes to all the events with her 6 students (Danielian doesn't count) since she has health issues. Last year she was hospitalized before SC and couldn't go with Maria :( Hopefully her health is better this year  I assume Polina will be paired with Tagaeva for her competitions as she is more motherly than the rest of Buyanova's assistants. This is all if Polina is even at CSKA. We need confirmation Polina, we are waiting with bated breath!

If she had stayed in Sambo, with Evgenia's departure wouldn't she have been number 2 senior lady? No guarantee that Eteri would have paid her any more attention though as she clearly will be focused on Zagi beating Med at every event they are at together

Elena Radionova declared that Polina started the collaboration with Elena Germanovna Buianova

And we were waiting on Polina to reveal the news and here Radionova does it :drama:

ETA:
Ok, WOW, go back and read Rads original interview and she never mentions Gubanova or Tsurskaya by name (or it was tactfully omitted)

- In your group there were new sportswomen, what do you think about this?

- To be honest, I do not care. I, apparently, left the age when I was worried about the arrival of new athletes in the group. Now I understand that everything depends only on me, my desire and my skating. I have good contact with Elena Germanovna. We understand each other. Need to work.

That's dirty for someone to go back and then insert these comments and publish them on sports.ru

Yes, by default of Eteri potentially only having 2 senior ladies  but I'd think Polina would have been behind quite a few of the Junior ladies, everyone who jumps quads for starters.

And thanks to Elena, queen of the Titanic, for giving us confirmation! :cheer:
Edit: Or... not ^^"

We already know who her coach is :slink:

Can't wait to see pictures of her working with new choreographers and at CSKA summer camp in Italy. I need pics of her and Maria being cute together

I would like to see first Polina's declaration on FS Russia.

Sure, but we still already know so nothing will be a surprise. I'm more interested in who will choreograph what for her and whether she keeps her new SP done by Daniil (probably not). And the style of said programs. Buyanova gave an interview to Flade a few days ago (interview will be up soon), so she might end up being the messenger, just like she was with Gubanova.
