Practice Reports!

That was a nice jump. I'm curious if there's a bit of change of prep strategy in wake of the injury. He usually goes all out -- I remember at TCC when others were just doing parts or skipping jumps in the practice, Jason did a full run through.

It must feel weird to not be coming off several weeks of intense training---he basically has to trust that his training prior to the injury/jump technique/muscle memory will help him do his best. If he somehow pulls through and gets a world team (and/or 4CC) spot, I think it will be more of a victory of the mind and less of the physical kind.

Yes I was thinking about that and wondering if pops in run through were deliberate but I'm betting not. I think he's said before that he gets confidence from lots of clean reps, so it must be tough to just trust muscle memory. The good thing is, with the exception of the pop, everything looks clean and beautiful. So much better than NHK. Keeping my fingers crossed he can put it all together on Friday, but if he doesn't, he stills knows that he went out and did his best.

Really? This is it? This is all we have about the brand new program is Lease's pathetic, evident dislike of anything Max?

I was just about to say the same thing...What the h*ll was that?? If Dave's true intent is to enlighten people about skating and the things that are taking place as these skaters prepare for the biggest event in US skating. He is falling drastically short. Maybe he should have a correspondent for skaters he doesn't appreciate so that we could get a clear, and more importantly, fair and enthusiastic report on how Max is doing. How is his new SP and how is it coming across to the audience?

In all honesty, I wouldn't be worried if I was Max, because his new short is so highly anticipated that he just needs to be clean on Friday and the audience will love it. The ice network interview (I think it was ice network? It was a podcast) was really interesting, and whoever the interviewer was said that he had gotten tons of tweets about Max's new short before the interview.

Karne, not to be a Dave apologist, but he didn't say much about anyone. I don't know if you've ever tried to tweet or post while watching practice, but I did at Skate America. If you don't want to miss anything, it's tough to do more than spit out a few words.

I agree.... Hence, the need for enthusiastic correspondents...

Wow, I've had a feeling about her all season. I hope she can hold it together and have a great skate in the SP. I'm still worried about Gracie but, Ashley is looking great. The Ladies don't skate until Friday, right? If so, I'm hoping Gracie's just feeling her way into the event. At this point, I just want to know how her speed is. In the video I saw, Ashley was really flying and so was Mariah Bell. Mariah's jumps didn't look that great but, she is fast and surprisingly tall..

She is not so tall, she has very long legs. I remember that picture with Ashley, Ashley is taller than Mariah :scratch2:. And off topic but Mariah Bell looks alike Liana Liberato

Shibs are not in practice yet?

UH if you read the other tweets, he covered their program as fairly as with other skaters, why this obsession with hating on people? there is nothing negative in that tweet unless you look for it. he stated what jumps he did. "lots of arms" isn't a "pathetic dislike for anything Max," it's an objective statement of what most of his programs have been composed of and that is due to choreographic choices. it's not new nor is it an insult. arm movements are always part of choreography, how is it an insult to state that it has that?

any videos of gracie doing jumps? i saw one floating around but it's just a step sequence and spin.

Gee thanks TSL, that's so helpful :disapp:

it's hard to tweet while watching a practice session and keeping an eye on everything going on. he gave the same amount of coverage to other skaters, nothing agianst max. stop looking for hate

Thanks Chapis, I just looked at Mariah's bio and it says she's only 5'3" I am shocked to see that. Like Ashley, she skates big and I really like that about her. BTW, It IS her long legs, especially during her Biellmann Spin, that make her appear to be taller than 5'3".

Not looking for hate :( I'm really not that emotionally invested in TSL. After hearing the way he's talked about Max, it seemed like a condescending way to describe his skating  Sorry

well i dont think he means it out of malice, but if you look at his choreography and compare it to other skaters you definitely see a difference in usage of edge and transitions, and as far as i know he isn't the only one to speak out against it, i know that those very liberal hip teenagers that took over the worlds twitter last year also express that dismay towards max' skating, but it's never malicious or mean or towards the skater.

this is a sport and it should be judged as such, no one was talking badly about max and it seems fair game to talk about the quality of skating when discussing competitive skating competitions.

ive seen that team gracie gold twitter account talk worse about max than anyone on TSL or the hip liberal teenagers that took over worlds twitter do because she (team gg account) used personal remarks on max, not on his skating but as a person. now that's condescending. she said things like "Ew" w/ the sick person emoji and stuff, and gracie and carly actually liked some of those tweets. i dont know what happened between them but that doesn't seem very nice of either of them.

Nathan, you are correct. It wasn't about hate. It was about the glaring lack of any interest that Dave gave to Max and his new program. It may not be a big deal to Dave but, it is a HUGE deal for his fans. "Lot's of Arms" is not a report......It's a snarky dig at one of my favorite skaters and a former US Champion. It's Dave lack of respect that bothers me. His job at this point, should be to "Inform" us as to what is happening on the ice as these are just practice sessions. He can critique them when they're in competition. Just my opinion..

I thoroughly disagree, Lease is frequently petty and nasty about Max. Additionally, I see that Adam Rippon's SP is completely empty, very little in the way of edges and transitions, lots and lots of shoulder and arm movement, and yet it doesn't draw the ire that every single one of Max's programs seems to.

It is not hard to see that Lease, as always, dislikes Max, and therefore did not give any actual decent information, just a snarky remark.
