Preliminary Round Men

I know what you mean ... it will be really tough on everyone because there are so many good skaters in this competition ...

It's the top 12 that make it to the SP, right?

Bad news: we have to wait until the end of the competition to see the protocol :( I was getting used to seeing the protocol after each phase of the competition

I'm more worried for later, not now for now.

Perhaps we souldn't be. His TES of 88, is just 1.43 shy of his very best recorded at TEB , where he had that slight 2 foot landing of his quad and everything else clean (included that 3a/2t/2l). For me, this skate was a confidence booster. Go Taka!

Interesting, no one won the Pre Round because they all had partial credit.

Majarov didn't have any falls, under-rotation calls or edge calls.

Kozuka did receive "partial credit" for his quad, but even if you take away the points he earned from that, his score would still be 28 points ahead of the next contender. So he didn't win because he had partial credit.

Great job TAka. If he can repeat the same thing, with better rotation on the 4T the score will be enough to land him on podium. I expect his PCS to go up alot in FS. Best of luck.

No fall for top 11, 2 UR 4Ts. Maybe the ice helps in landing but not in rotations, not enough anyway.

Over all I think the QR is good for Kozuka as an extra practice with judges. There was no pressure so he could try his quad as well as the new ice in a competition situation. This should be a confidence booster. Excellent marks, which, if replicated, may be podium worthy.

Interesting Protocol. I was looking for how many points for each skater was earned by partial credit. Kozuka still would have been the best of the lot if he had left out the Quad.
