Prettiest Medals?

Of course getting any medal at a competition is nice, but some medals are prettier than others imo...

I think its nice but I'm not a huge fan of the glass or see through medals. It's hard to tell who got what and it disappears in the costume.

Of course there are the plain, standard GP medals like:
CoC which is fine
TEB which IMO is probably the most ugly and boring looking one. The ribbon looks like something I would wrap a gift with and the medal is boring same with the font.
NHK which is also pretty plain but I like the ribbon and bow (granted those come with a trophy...)
CoR which could also get a better ribbon

National medals are also pretty standard too, with some symbol embossed on the medal and the ribbon usually matching the countries colors. I will give it to Canada for the interesting shape

International Championships are all the same looking (and small )

GPF by far have a lot of nice medals. I specifically like 2013 and 2009 (guess what they were also hosted in Japan, surprising right?)

I never found Olympic medals to be that pretty either :sarcasm: maybe for the exception of 2014 (I like the glass), 2006, 1998, 1992

WTT and Japan Open has a pretty nice one too.

Im not even going to go into Senior B's or even maybe Juniors. What are your favorites or even least favorites. Of course all of this is my own personal opinion

I definitely like the Sochi 2014 medals alot, especially the gold and silver

Not a fan of the 2010 OG medals though. I do like the Aboriginal engravings. It gave each athlete a unique design to treasure but the hammered look it has just irks me. Still, its "wavy-hammered" style gave the medals another dimension of wonder as it gave them this water surface-like look....which I really like :confused2:

I liked the "donut" medals from Torino! Those were stylin'

I thought the 2002 Salt Lake City medals were rather ugly though, they weren't even properly circular! :p

They looked like Sembei, a Japanese rice cracker. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-pqrQDrwP...DyQ/5nRoXR4P9AE/s400/pepper-sembei-detail.jpg
I liked the Torino and Sochi medals.

And something needs to be done about the World Championship medals. They are so puny. Let's have something with more gravitas...or even just a bit more gravity? :p

I totally agree. Like I get it's the way the World, 4CC, and Euros medals have been for a while, but it's almost insulting in a way that they're so small for an event of that level. Like if it's because they want to save resources....which I have no clue if it is...but seriously, a little bigger? Like I don't care if it's as big as the medals from US and Canadian Nationals, just get them a bit bigger!

Haha I actually love the Vancouver medals the most! Because of the uniqueness in it;

a wavy shape; http://nimg.sulekha.com/sports/original700/vancouver-2010-medals-olympics-2009-10-15-14-13-28.jpg

a different pattern for gold, silver and bronze; http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47285000/jpg/_47285032_-11.jpg

I also like the Sochi one which used a different material. And I am SOOOO looking forward to the one at Rio and PyeongChang!

And yes I demand a better medals for Euros, 4CC and Worlds! Especially Worlds!! This competition has a history of more than a century shouldn't there be a more significant medal?

Btw I also like the one in Beijing olympics, I like the chinese design in the medal, it makes it look like a product of a mix of culture. I hope they can make an even nicer one in 2022! http://www.windsorstar.com/sports/cms/binary/5168359.jpg?size=640x420ng!

SOCHI.......By a mile!!! The World Medals are the ones that need help. I remember seeing them in 1999. I was at the Ladies final and there were skaters in the audience and back stage that had already won their events but had worn their medals to the Ladies Final. They looked like necklaces as even the ribbon they were attached to looked kind of cheap.

I remember seeing the medals in 2001 as well. They had very pretty ribbons but I thought the medals were too small for such a grand occasion.

I know I'm going to go off topic by saying this, BUT seeing the pics of the medals from Vancouver 2010 just brings be BACK to the memories of Snomaggedon 2010 and me being a freshman/JV cheerleader, being 14 1/2 years old, being about close to 5'4", not quite at 100 pounds yet, having braces, having a back brace, and putting together a 2,000-piece puzzle on the shelf under the coffee table in the living room of my house of a Las Vegas scene.

Ah.......memories!

One of my friends won a silver in Vancouver. I've worn it quite a few times and it looks very pretty on me

I love it!! If I had a picture with an Olympic Medal. It would be in my profile. I used to have a picture of me from the play "A Chorus Line" when I played Richie. I didn't get a lot of positive feedback...Unless you call "F*g" positive. :disapp:

One year SkateAmerica decided to abandon the round tradition all together and award rectangular medals. http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slideshows/374772/slide_374772_4375680_compressed.jpg

Back when the big French international was Trophee Lalique they had some beautiful glass medals and trophies. I think Lalique is a glass company. I couldn't find a pic of the medals, but here's one of their awesome trophies. Don't drop that Plushy!!. http://cache1.asset-cache.net/gc/27...caf3hTKIg2/6KVJBDnlbCGjwokSb4Rs9C28B3VoeP4EEK

Here's a look at Ashley Wagner's Bronze medal from Sochi. IMO, it's very pretty, which is more than I can say for the interview itself. I'm sorry if that sounds rude but, I was never a fan of Bethany having a talk show. Just because you have a few bucks and a big mouth does not make you a good talk show host.

Sochi ones looks good and I've held one in my hand before but I prefer a more classic medal where it's just metal. I actually love the donut medals from Turin, it's kind of cute

I like the looks of the all glass medals a lot too but I think they might be too fragile, the GPF 2013 ones are actually one of my all time faces, I love the design

Sochi 2014 had the most beautiful medals....Torino 2006 had nice ones too. Makes me wonder *** happened with Vancouver 2010? Are they metal potato chips?
