Actually, this was the ONE design from Christian's collection that I actually LIKED (tho I will admit that it's more than a bit MUCH and certainly not something you'd want to wear out in public), mainly because I like the way the two-tone belt matches the Big Bird Just Back From The Salon dress. For some reason, that just makes the whole thing work for me. Nonetheless -- "my kitchen net scrubber walks" --
Doris, your comments on these are a LOT funnier than those from those comedians they have -- I think it's in In Touch Weekly or one of those -- who critique the "celebrity outfits"; maybe you could freelance for them.

So far it looks like Rami's collection is bringing in the most money.

there was another interview with Tim weeks back and he mentioned problems with Victoria as well. No doubt she is a great designer, she just needs to have better attitude or no one will be willing to work with her. But at least this interview explains why Victoria looked so annoyed to be at the reunion show. Seems like most of the designers got along well, and they recognize other designers' talents.

Tim can go on about the who's your customer question, but there were several things that got Chris bumped, IMO
1. The script was always that Chris gets bumped. He was bumped before. He's fat. He's relatively old. He never went to design school. He designs outfits with vegetables. He designs outfits for drag queens, like Lady Bunny. Obviously, he is not what the show's creators think America's next designer is like or looks like.
2. The people in their 40's who have been on this show before seem to fall into two types: the failures (Vincent, Sweet P) & the dilettantes (Laura Bennett). Chris seems to be on the show not because he is a failure (he really does have a thriving costume business , check the client list), so he's neither. He appears to be on this show as though it were Fantasy Project Runway Camp, to hang out with Tim Gunn & the others.
3. Chris appears to have been ambivalent from the start about the joys of winning uber alles. It has never been clear that he wanted a commercial clothing line, for one thing. His dream is a Paris show. And I think he likes his costume business.
When he was aufed the first time, he made no effort at all to join Sweet Pea in dumping on Steven or to make a case that you can't wear shoulder pads with a bulky sweater and dance wear, which left them to use color as a cohesive element. He just said, I was the boss, I take the responsibility.
In Episode 11, Chris was obviously not into it. He did the collar piece the way he probably had wanted to if he were doing the Avant Garde challenge by himself, basically taking ownership of the AG design. And he ignored Tim's comments about the skirt & took a nap. In the post show interview, he says he is happy because he was not the cause of Rami being aufed. In other interviews, he says that he feels that Rami is the younger brother he never had. (What kind of reality show contestant is this?)
So at the end of Episode 11, he gets huge praise from Roberto Cavalli and feels like he won, but it's a tie. Either way, he has to produce a collection, but what to do?
Here I'm totally speculating. (But it's on the record that Chris got an offer to costume a big budget movie somewhere between the start of the show and Bryant Park. He may well have decided to be the next Edith Head rather than the next Calvin Klein, so to speak.)
His Ep 11 plan was obviously to get auf'd and produce exactly the collection he wanted to produce, an OTT one, as a decoy (he says almost that in the exit interview). But now he is in a worst case sort of thing, a walk off with a guy he feels needs to win, when he doesn't. And he is showing in Bryant Park and doesn't want to embarrass himself either design or construction wise; he has a business & a brand, plus he really would like to show in Paris some day.
The human hair is a brilliant solution to avoid winning without embarassment, although it drives producing a "What does Goth Girl wear when she grows up?" collection.

Yep, daisies -- that was some funny stuff. I sure got a good laugh out of it.
I agree that Chris has a great, established career in costume, and no doubt there are numerous opportunities in that arena that will be/have already been presented because of Project Runway. I think he's been toying with "real" fashion, but has costume too rich in his blood to be a real player in American fashion (with its Ready to Wear/sportswear emphasis) -- he would probably be more successful in his vision in Europe. I don't know which he wants to pursue or which he will ultimately pursue, but I think he has the talent to succeed either way.
I also agree that the "script" so to speak did not involve Chris winning, or even necessarily making it too far (the need to bring him back after Jack left screwed up that plan). I had long suspected that the "walk-off" with Rami was planned for the "bottom two" of the Final Four all along. Regardless of any conspiracy theories, Chris got the exposure (and wuz robbed!) cries that went along with it. The fact that he was a fan favorite (if not The Fan Favorite) bodes well for that potential for future success as well.
Much like American Idol, I don't think you need to win to find post-show success, thanks to exposure it provides you to the people who count.
