"And here comes the problem. The podium is strongly contested all over the world and an official complaint was filed by the South Korean Olympic Committee to the IOC. In no way could Adelina Sotnikova be placed ahead of Yuna Kim and perhaps also Carolina Kostner."

"In my opinion, the judging was disgraceful and again an embarrassment for the sport. A real mockery."

Sonia's russophobia is well knowing, she is simply overreacting, how old is she now?))) There is no way Kim could be placed ahead of Sotnikova and Costner in LP in Sochi Oly. Sotnikova was head and shoulders better then Kim. Sotnikova’s per/inter, choreography and transition all better then Kims, the girl was flying across the ice without any fear. Kim was cautious and slow, her second mark is way too high. Costner should be second without doubt. Mao and Gold both were better than Kim at Olympics LP. Just too bad judges fix it for Kim to be second. And now instead of criticizing second place for Kim over Costner overall, Kims PR decided to bully Sotnikova. That is bad karma coming.
How quickly Sonia forgot judging fix in Vancouver.

Meanwhile, the 5 most memorable moments of the Sochi Olympics according to NBC, with a beautiful shot of Adelina on the cover:

"Adelina ascends: Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova won a surprising gold medal in figure skating over defending Olympic champion Yuna Kim, a win that thrilled the host nation's fans but sparked a controversy about the judges' scoring and the judges themselves. But Sotnikova appeared unfazed by the controversy, and Kim herself said nothing about it, instead expressing at her imminent retirement from competition." - See more at: http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/most-memorable-moments-sochi-olympics#sthash.X3TWIVNB.dpuf

With a comment that Adelina ranks 9th in the vote....

The Atlantic: The Sad, Perfect End of Kim Yuna's Figure-Skating Reign

http://www.theatlantic.com/entertai...end-of-kim-yunas-figure-skating-reign/283986/

It takes an uncommon brand of competitive spirit and work ethic to come back and defend a gold medal in any discipline, but it’s exceedingly rare in figure skating, where only Norway’s Sonja Henie and East Germany’s Katarina Witt have repeated as champions. What happens when perfection is expected? In many ways, it seemed, Kim Yuna could not win at the Sochi Olympics, even if she came in first.

Finally got to watch the French broadcast. France Television commentators Annick Dumont and Philippe Candeloro also thought Yuna should have won! At the end of Adelina's performance, Philippe said it's gotta be the bronze, while Annick placed her above Carolina for silver. At the end of Yuna's performance, Annick thought it was a gold performance, while Philippe said he 'wanted' Yuna to win gold. http://www.francetvsport.fr/les-jeux-olympiques/sotnikova-yuna-kim-reexamen-des-notes-209119

Pretty much every broadcaster outside of Russia and U.S. thought Yuna won.

That whole Le'Equipe thing keeps coming up, again.

Add:
Tom Hammond thought Yuna won too. Scott and Sandra, Scott for sure anyway, seemed to know something else was up.

There is no doubt that Adelina is a marvellous, very promising young girl, technically fantastic, but at a sidereal distance from Yuna and Carolina as far as the Program Components are concerned. While Adelina just "skated" her planned program, both Carolina and Yuna expressed in the best possible way the art and the beauty of figure skating.

No fair judge with a minimum of competence on how to evaluate the Program Components could have awarded to Adelina higher marks in choreography, performance/execution, and interpretation of the music.

Nevertheless, several judges did. Two placed Adelina ahead of Yuna in Performance/Execution, four in Choreography and three in Interpretation. And the same happened with Carolina, who got lower marks from two judges in Performance/Execution, from five judges in Choreography, and from two in Interpretation. Can anyone explain to us why four judges placed Adelina ahead in every single component score, some of them with a difference of more than one point?

In my opinion, the judging was disgraceful and again an embarrassment for the sport. A real mockery. After the scandal in Salt Lake City in 2002, the International Judging System was brought in and judging became secret and the judges. scores are anonymous and not identified by country. Still, we can easily envisage who they are just by looking at the composition of the panel of judges. All this proves that the IJS did not solve at all the problems in judging. On the contrary!

Will this new scandal produce a miracle? Will judging become open again as is wished by all the skating world, including great champions?

Now we can only hope that the ISU will not close its eyes and will open the famous safe where the real protocols are kept and will assess the proper sanctions.

Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir-Some thoughts

I feel that the ladies free skate showed that Ms. Lipinski, while fun to listen to at times, was VERY insecure about her own win in Nagano which is why she felt it necessary to repeat ad nauseum why Adelina won. Apparently having "heart" and grabbing the moment (despite the fact that, well, it ain't hard to do when you're on home court in a totally corrupt, biased arena) means you should win the gold medal. Let's face it. Tara was kiddie skater who happened to be a powerful jumper once upon a time. Looking back on that Nagano gold medal free skate, all I can think is "wow, she was a great jumper for such an itty bitty, immature kid." Nothing in her free program was interesting except the 3L-3L combination. Her choreography was corny, she looked like a little dwarf/elf thing and the music was, um, pedestrian.

Anyway, I just found it obnoxious how blatant she was in her support for Adelina bc, well, she knows Adelina's absurd gold medal "win" looks a lot like her own (except perhaps Tara deserved her gold medal a bit more since she didn't step out of any of her jumps in an ugly, ridiculous way). Tara, honey, please shove it.

As for Johnny, I find it perplexing how in love with Russian culture he is when it's pretty obvious most Russians would rather stone him to death than embrace him for his supposed "artistry."

Anyway, rant off. They were a fun pair to listen to, but they were also irrational, biased and completely ridiculous commentators for many of the events (ice dance included).
