Road to 26 Trophy (OWG test event) | Feb 19-20

I hate to say it, but having watched her skate I'm not sure that Levito is ready. Let's see what happens in the free, but I wouldn't send her to Worlds unless I was absolutely confident that she had a secure 3-3 back and competition ready.

Judge 6 was Carlotta Pontremoli from Italy.
I would say that was obvious from her scoring. I actually think her very high scores for the Italians and very low scores for the Americans, who she clearly sees as their biggest rivals here, could get her in trouble. Strange to think any judge would do this at such an unimportant competition. But, maybe, she'll get away with it since it is an unimportant competition.

As long as she has a decent LP, she'll be sent. The USFS just requires her to demonstrate physical fitness. Two decent programs here will definitely do that. Sarah often scores around 66 with a 3-3. Levito can easily get that score with a 3-2 because her components are justifiably a lot higher. With another month of training, her 3-3 could be back and then she will score a lot higher than Sarah is capable of. If Isabeau had shown up here and been unable to rotate triples etc.., Sarah would have had chance. That doesn't seem to be the case. We'll see what happens in the LP.

She did a 3F3Lo in practice, and I know practice isn't competition, but it seems like the 3-3 is on its way.

None of the pairs that were seeking for the worlds minimums got them.
If I get it right, there should be 23 teams at worlds, considering north korean one probably will not come to the US.

That 3+3 was under rotated on both jumps. Correct, practice certainly is not competition; lots of skaters perform jumps in practice that they have never done in competition. Competition is what counts. The FS will be the most telling between the selection of Isabeau and Sarah; Levito hasn’t had a single clean FS this entire season while Everhardt has skated many clean FS programs.

according to Isabeau, she only started back jumping three weeks ago and this was only her 2nd time doing her doing her full fp since her injury 😯 I'd consider this a very good showing for her, then!

Levito had 4 jump errors in her FS with no 3+3 attempted and only scored a 121.79 at this event. This makes her 4 FS average to be 128.44. Everhardt’s average FS scores this season from her 4 international FS programs is 130.15 and we have yet to see how she skates and scores in the SP and FS at 4CC. The most fair way to have handled this situation would have been for these two to face off under the same judging panel for that 3rd worlds spot at 4CC, but for some unbeknownst reason that isn’t happening.

My instagram shows that gsk8 is streaming but I don't have time to watch today :( go to their profile on ig and there will be info when they are live
Unfortunately I have no Instagram account and do not want to have any. But yesterday the streamer shared the links of some performances so I expected that today it would be the same.

It'll be interesting to see if they're on the entry list. North Korea is still technically at war with South Korea so 4CC 2025 was never going to be on the cards for them.

They have competed in Germany and Italy this season though. Could they even get a visa?
I don't think they will go to Boston, but they definitely can go to Oly qualifier in China and to Milan as well (location is ok).

They would have to get special visas and I don't think NK is willing to send their athletes to US. Maybe for Olympics they would make some efforts but for regular figure skating championships I doubt.

but for some unbeknownst reason that isn’t happening.
The reason is the reputation, titles and much higher ceiling. This test skate is not an indication of what she's capable of. Figure skating is about peaking at the right time. This time will come in a month.

I respect her but her jump technique is worse than ever. Sarah has earned this one.
Exactly right! Any time a skater is parallel to the ice when they are donkey kicking into a 3Lutz or 3flip and risking permanent damage to their spine is never a good sign and those jumps even when completed should deservingly receive many negative GOEs across the board. No reputation or medals on earth should be able to save her from fair judging and her technique is worse than ever.

Everyone's allowed their opinion. But, frankly, what random biased people on the internet think ( all of us) isn't going to have an effect on the USFS's decision. They selected her because she best matched their selection criteria which is clearly laid out in their documents for all to read.

According to Isabeau's post FS interview, this was only her second FS run through since resuming training. With that in mind, her performance wasn't bad at all. She's only been on the ice for three weeks and she was expected to do triple jumps at this competition to show physical readiness to the USFS. So, it seems she fulfilled their criteria. She now has four more weeks to practice before Worlds. Given she managed these performances after only three weeks back, it seems she should be quite prepared for Worlds in a months time.
