Finally caught up with the men’s competition at NHK, and I am thrilled for Roman!
I love his qualities in both programs. I’ve already rewatched his FS several times :luv17: Its cute how he towers over Yuzuru and Kevin on the podium, and the interaction between him and Yuzuru was so funny

Roman's newer interpretation of "Fix You" is even more lovely and heartfelt than the 2017 YRSA Ice Show version! Heck, I'll even go a step further and proclaim that it's more superb than Jeffrey Buttle's exhibition number at the 2006 Nationals when he performed to the same song. (And that's saying something, because Jeff is the one who made fall in love with this sport in the first place!)
Colonel Green revealed in the Canada thread that Roman is the first Canadian man to medal at NHK since Buttle in 2003. Talk about following in the footsteps of one's idol! I myself have noticed that Roman has brought home more hardware this season than the other Canadian senior and junior men.

Dylan Moscovitch and Asher Hill discussed Roman in their latest episode of That Figure Skating Show! ( https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7ofes0 ), and I cracked up when they said that his extensions reached to the other side of the rink because he's twice as tall as the other men at 6'10"!

I'm late to the party but recently discovered Roman's Youtube channel. (aka Romsky) I like Roman's skating (his 4S is gorgeous) and his personality is fun, too. I like his sense of humor and he doesn't take himself too seriously.

What I enjoy most of this performance is that he has a beaming smile throughout it; it's a genuine joy of skating.

He was kind of under the radar with the Keegan vs Nam stuff, so I'm not surprised he was able to pull off a relatively clean skate. Looking forward to seeing him in Montreal!

I'm honestly still in shock
right now over Roman's victory :medal" (which is why it took this long for me to write a reply). I had sent him a Christmas card (although I'm not sure if Skate Canada has forward it to him, but Matthew Markell did let me know that he got my X-mas card) expressing my wish that he'll become the next Canadian champion, and I can't believe it came true!!! :hap93: I sincerely hope I'll get to see him compete in Montreal! My nickname for him has been "Princeling," but now he has earned the title of "Roman Emperor of Canada."

Don't apologize- you single-handedly keep this thread going, and I'm always grateful for what you post even though I rarely reply.
I'm just so happy for Roman, he's been my favourite cactus skater since he was a junior, and his success this year is so well earned. As well as being a beautiful skater, he comes across as just the nicest boy, a real role model, and I can't wait to see him at worlds!

I haven't been a Roman fan for a very long time. I kinda found him after Skate America 2017 in which he was a competitor. Since then, I've been captivated. I'm so happy for his success. I love his Instagram response where he thanks everyone under the sun including his parents for their dedication:

I posted in the competition forum after Roman’s win but forgot to post here, shame on me! Congratulations to Roman on putting together two beautiful performances and winning the national championship 
:yay: I “discovered” him at last year’s national championship, and he’s become one of my favorites among the men. I absolutely love both programs and can honestly say I’ve rewatched his performances more than any others from this season (excluding Piper and Paul’s and Han Yan’s free 
). Keeping my fingers crossed that I can see him skate in person again at Worlds!
