I've only just discovered that Roman was briefly interviewed on Chinese television after his TE FS. I can't believe the reporter asked him about Yuzu's waist, lol! :laugh:

I'm not going to lie, this tweet made me laugh! :laugh2: (I do feel kind of guilty for chuckling, but I honestly can't help myself.) In case someone can't see the thumbnail, the text reads "Roman's Olympics in Summary" which is accompanied by a 4-second video clip of a person dressed as Bing Dwen Dwen (the 2022 Olympics mascot) who trips after performing a single-revolution jump. It specifically reminded me of Roman's single Axel in the TE FS where he stumbled on the landing. Poor guy, his Olympic performances were epic disasters (and he does love the word "epic").

This interview was uploaded on Skate Canada's YouTube channel earlier today (it was only previously available on Twitter and Facebook). Roman looks even prettier in 1080p! 😘

Shocked and terrified. Looking at what’s going on in Ukraine is devastating. Having family there, it hits really close to home. My heart and prayers goes out to all those suffering in this situation ❤️





The latter half of Roman's tenth vlog (which was uploaded exactly 4 years ago) was filmed from a Ukrainian hotel he was staying at while visiting his extended family, and he mentions an aunt and a grandmother.
 
I only recently learned that Canada has the largest Ukrainian population outside of Ukraine and Russia (which surprised me, but I doubled-checked the statistics, and it's true), so Roman must be touched that most Canadians support the Ukrainian people.

 
🇺🇦 Madness…unfortunately it’s always the innocent and least involved people that pay the price. I was always aware of the tensions, but never in a million years did I anticipate things to escalate so quickly. And among those innocent are my family and relatives in Ukraine. I won’t go into details for the sake of privacy of myself and my family, but trust me when I say I know the nightmare that millions are experiencing right now. It’s difficult to watch and do nothing, in my bio is a link where you can find resources to help those suffering the consequences of war. You’d be surprised what a dollar here and there could do for these people. Stay strong, and don’t lose hope 💙💛🇺🇦 #ukraine #ukrainewar #slavaukraini

 
I like this tweet from a woman who calls herself Ali; I can only imagine the emotional turmoil Roman must be feeling over his extended family's struggles in Ukraine.

Let's also consider how skaters of Ukrainian descent like Canada's Roman Sadovsky can now feel comfortable competing while his relatives are fighting for their country and their lives.

I'm not on Instagram, so I missed this post yesterday; it's a rare pic of Roman with his mother. I've noticed that the icing on the cake reads "Happy Olympics," so it must have been taken before he left for Beijing. I'd imagine that he's even more grateful that his mother has worked so hard and made many sacrifices in order for him to have a (much) better life in Canada.

I just saw on the news that a Russian missile has hit an airfield in Ivano-Frankivsk, which is the hometown of Roman's father. Their anxiety level must be through the roof.

Back in Apr. 2016, Roman uploaded a few pics of the beautiful buildings in Ivano-Frankivsk, and I hate to think that they might be reduced to rubble soon.

Roman has finally arrived in Montpellier (I was wondering when he'd get there because the Men SP is less than 43 hours away!), and a Japanese fan filmed a short clip of him at this morning's practice.

"My Olympic Experience" vlog; it's 32 minutes long! Topics include his paranoia about catching COVID-19 while on a crowded plane ride from Toronto to Vancouver, the overnight hotel stay in Vancouver and the chartered flight to Beijing being much more pleasant, the super-strict COVID restrictions in Beijing, the Opening Ceremony, the Olympic Village, how he felt about his competitive performances, and the freebies that he got as an Olympian ($7000 worth of clothing and accessories from Lululemon!).

Roman still has the pressure of maintaining 2 spots for the Canadian men (qualifying for the free skate would help in that goal), but hopefully that task is less stressful than competing 3 times over 5 days like he did at the Olympics.
