My son did well other than the 1st 4lz fall, I still would hope he could just focus on 2 quads instead of trying to learn them all

That was a veritable feast of ice skating by all . I felt truly energised and excited and moved by all the Russian skaters. Great energy and support from the audience. First time I have felt the season come truly alive. That's just test skates. Bravo to them all. Can't wait for tomorrow

Finally got to watch test skates. Been skating and doing ballet all day.
Sasha looks like a mermaid princess! squeeee!!!!
Sasha's music is fine, but not dazzling. She needs to find a mermaid song to go with that dress.
ok Samodelkina found an even uglier dress than last year.
She's using one of my fav songs, but the choreo and dress I do not like.
Muravieva's dress looks good from the back and side, but I don't like the front of it. Her music is awful.
Should I even ask what the huge, hideous thing at plushenko's neck is?
lol at the weird supermodel catwalk thing they're doing with the skaters. But Sasha's hair seems even longer lately!
Akatieva has the best dress on.
Valieva's dress - I love the color, but I don't like the top part of it. Those straps need to go.
So crazy to see Valieva and Akatieva back to back now because they're both really fluid.

Russian Nationals will be Akateva vs Valieva with Samodelkina as an outside threat. I think this will be a rivalry we'll see for the next 4 years. Akateva with slightly superior technical content owing to her lighter frame and Valieva with slightly superior presentation.

I first thought she WAS Valieva!
Trusova really stood out for me. I didn't like her skating much until last season, but then she finally had some interesting programs and also her new look with the red hair really helped her. And again, this season, a really bold choice with the hair and the green dress and I love it. It even gives "I've put a spell on you" a fresh look. She really has the it factor for me now and I hope she continues for many years, because I'm really curious about her future programs.
Valieva on the other hand, as fantastic as she was, this is the 4th short program of a similar style in a row, it's getting kind of boring. Akatieva as well, this was a quintessential Tutberidze program. Petrosyan on the other hand was really cute and engaging, I can see her becoming the next tiny queen.
Muravieva looked good, I liked her jump technique, but she doesn't really stand out for me so far, same with Samodelkina.
Tuktamysheva's program was also good, but I wish her step sequence had a bit hip hop chararcter, she was just meandering on the ice.

Nikita R's mo is a choice and one I'm not sure he should have gone with. I don't remember seeing these two before, but I like them! Fedya's got a good team! Heh the choreo reminds me of him and Ksenia S, Nikita's jacket is definitely something Fedya would wear when he competed!
Heh now you mention it Denis does have chubby cheeks, he's a cutie.

OMG what an epic start! They've got such innovative moves! The knee slide by Denis after the throw is seriously cool!
I wonder if these are their costumes...I assume not. Although they could probably pull it off.
What a fun team! I look forward to seeing more of this as the season goes on!
Daria's braids look painful though the stripe effect is pretty fierce.
Ha ha Sasha T's hearts and dog stuffies are still there.
Aww is Vovan all by himself on his phone in that red carpet intro... Anastasia M really is a minature Zhenya T in looks though!

And it's Carmen! Bit of a rough skate for them, but I do love the classics. Also interesting ending pose...hope she doesn't get too dizzy from the blood rush to the head!
Nastya and Sasha! They look so elegant! Also Sasha G is diva in a manner that's usually only seen in pairs ladies, and I love him for it.
This music reminds me that I've got a set of Classical music CDs out on loan from the library and I really must listen to them.
Oh wait on closer inspection it's not a bow tie, but a sort of double flower arrangement. Still what a classy costume! He could wear that to the Oscars or something!
Congratulations to all the pairs! They all showed their stuff and it looks to be a very exciting season!

Dima Kozlovskii is still injured.
I realized today that it is really the end of the 3A (Aliona Anya Alexandra) era. I'm having problems moving on. LOL. It is the natural way of things, but it isn't the same as when Alina and Zhenya were winding up, and we had the excitement of 3A moving up into their shoes. It is hard to let go of the old and embrace the new. (It would help if the new generation were allowed to compete internationally of course). Only Liza will still be around to compete domestically I am assuming.
