Indeed she has. She won Trophee Lalique in 2002 and again in 2003, where she scored 197.19 points in the first year of CoP judging.

Look out, Irina! LOL.

I was interested in her comments about the physical stress and strain when skaters try to increase the levels of spins and step sequences.

"The physical part of performing the new spins and footwork takes a lot of wear and tear on the body. But I think it’s good for skating to diversify itself and to make it more difficult than just jumping...

"People think that jumping causes a lot of injuries, but spins are very hard to master because of the different positions required. I have four positions on my layback. That’s a lot of stress on the body!"

Perhaps an unintended consequence of the New Judging System will be shorter careers for top skaters.

I don't know about the rest of you, but that is probably the last place in the world I would like to be at this point in world history. If what I've been seeing on the tube these last couple of weeks is any indication, the place is starting to look like Beirut.​

I would encourage you to read the post from a poster who lives in Paris who works in the affected areas. This situation is sad to me beyond belief, but on some sad level doesn't sound that much different than pocketed areas in the broader Chicago metro area where I live, nor pocketed areas within a mile of where I live.

These pockets of problems don't make the problems any less severe. But I do think the US media (that's the only media I watch, so can't comment on others) has sensationalized this to the point where it seems "FRANCE IS ON FIRE!!" When in fact the troubled areas are more isolated than that.

That does not make the troublesome issues any less important, especially to the people who are the most troubled. But it doesn't mean the whole of France is on fire.

I am also not saying that people with travel plans to France shouldn't be aware, and carefully consider their plans and check with travel agents and others who are familiar on a daily basis with the safety situation. But I personally would not rely on the broad based US media for all of my info if I had travel plans to Paris. (and I used to travel extensively on business.) Things just tend to be way over dramatized. I'm not under emphasizing the protesters and/or their reasons for protest, just the magnitude geogrpahically of the problem.

BBC reports not a good situation in the city of Paris, this evening. If Sasha dropped in early, I'm sure that was her decision. (She is a very smart girl).

Anyway, situation appears to be detoriating rapidly, how sad.

I would expect the event to be cancelled. U.S. has issued a travel advisory to France. AND THAT is SHOCKING.

I've lived through the Watts riots, the Detroit riots and the Reublican Convention,:yes: and I'm still here.

Like it or not, Sasha has her own personality (and don't we all). She is the favorite going into the TEB. Living up to that is the important thing for her. Good luck to Sasha.
