Not to be disrespectful to Sasha's abilities but to me this matchup has "substance vs style" written all over it. I like style fine but I prefer the plenty of substance with some style to go with it, to lots of flash and dazzle but often lacking a bit in substance. JMO.

Well, for all of Sasha's faults and problems, I have to admit that the completeness of her style and the beauty of her technique makes me want to see her skate a perfect program.

Kimmie, however, would not impress me with her skating at this point in time even if she completed all her jumps perfectly to medal at Worlds.

Actually, I don't mean it that way. I would be very excited for her and I would feel great that she's got her technique down. But I think that would only drive me to want to see her develop a mature style of skating that makes her every move captivating, even if it's not a jump.

How about Kimmie vs. Emily? That comparison would be a lot more interesting; the two are on similar levels, it seems, and they are both competing right now so it would be easy to compare the two.

Actually, I think Sasha's dream program is:

3z-2t-2l, 3f, 3l, 3f-2t, 3t-3s SEQ, 2a, 3s/3z

That would give her a base value of 43.86 if she did a final triple salchow or 45.51 if she did a final triple lutz. The salchow is much more likely.

How would that be close? Meissner does the triple-triples Hughes doesnt do, as is even outscoring her on PCS most of the time now.

Yes, but Kim doesn't have much to fall back on should she be off on her jumps. I mean, Emily almost beat her at nationals, and that's WITH a fall. Worlds is going to be rather interesting. I initially thought the Asians would dominate it but there could be a European and/or American spoiler (let's hope).

Rediculous comparison. Please think think think. Kimmie is a World Champion who have 2 triple-triple combo plus a triple axel while Sasha has rarely execute a clean simple triple lutz-double toe loop-double loop combo.) Addition to that, Sasha hasn't win any World Championship. So, it's clearly Kimmie can win over Sasha on any given day.

I don't really know who. As we all know, Sasha is my favorite, but they are both beautiful skaters. Also, I haven't seen either skate lately, so I'm not sure how they're doing, but it would probably depend who had a better day.

At this point Sasha has more than Kimmie anyday. I guess I should say did. I enjoyed watching Sasha over Kimmie in the past. Yes, Kimmie has the triple/triple but as we just saw over the weekend at Nationals they were shaky at best and did not look fully rotated in the short. She needs allot of work on her PCS, her music choices are the pits and I doubt it very much if she makes the world podium again this year. I think she will be close but she does not have the flow and finesse of a Sasha type skater. Sasha may not have the goods technically but her PCS are right up there among the best. I would like to bring Alyssa in here though even though not related to thread but this skater is so pleasing to watch that if she really got her jumping down she would be a contender. Emily doesn't stand a chance against any of these skaters.

I would hope that Sasha would win. This is of course saying that she skated some wow of a program and that she landed all of her triples. If the tech side of the skates were similar then Sasha's higher PCS "should" push her past Kimmie in this hypothetical skate.

does kimmie's perfect performnace include a triple axel? no? okay, then it goes to sasha. Her jumps are stunning when she lands them and she has a triple triple sequnece. her artistry, spins and spirals are light years better than kimmie not to mention her stunning footwork.

All this proves is that the winner of a Championship does not get the expected praise. Cases in point:

Kwan v. Tara

Kwan v. Cohen

Cohen v. Meissner

I disagree on the part about Cohen's jumps being stunning when she lands them. Even when she does land them her GOE is lower then other top skaters, and I can see why. They are not big jumps, her legs curl around the knees in her air position, she does not have alot of flow in and out, and she flutzes.

Saha's only weapons are super-high PCS (i.e. American Poltical Power) and GOE of spirals. Her jumps can't kill anything.
