Absolutely. There is no bigger pressure for a skater than the next 12-14 months. She has to make herself " get it done " when it matters most. Psychology is most crucial at the Olympics. Everyone is well trained/skilled to get there... it is between the ears after that.

:eeking: Well I hope she won't... she'll still be 19 at the Olympics.

Oh I didn’t mean to startle anyone. I read an article a long time ago that she plans to retire in 2018 to study to become a doctor. But then in a more recent article (but probably more than a year ago) there was another one which said that she’s having second thoughts about it. I don’t remember the exact details and they might have been both articles on paper and not published on the web. I’d of course, want her to stay to see how she’ll evolve but it’s too early to say. She probably doesn’t know herself yet.

Anyway, her Hernando’s Hideaway at MOI was cute and coquettish. She’s becoming more and more mature :luv17:

Oh but the doctor thing was a long time ago, indeed. She's not studying for that anymore. Aren't her university majors literature and foreign languages?
It's likely that her career growing much more than she expected has changed her mind as well.
I'm pretty sure she'll still be there after 2018, no worry. ;)

That's a pity that the media seemed to favor coverage about the others than Satton. In my perhaps too idealistic view, recognition should be given when recognition is due. Satton has delivered time and again and one of the most consistent skater in recent years. I have nothing against others but she who has kept the tradition of Japan ladies skater in GPF and won silver there, and won 3rd national title back to back should be the media darling now. Unfortunately and sadly Mao (and Marin if i am correct) did not fully deliver this season (hopefully Mao will take the time off to properly heal her injuries instead of trying to force herself, which i feel had negatively affected her performance and confidence). Of course i am not saying that they shouldn't be lauded for what they have achieved (all of the skaters should be lauded in fact) but I just hope Tiny queen got more recognition she deserve. Another skater tht should get more attention is Wakaba, she did quite well this season too. But again, I might not understand how the media works that well. We have what we have i guess. I hope I did not across as hateful to any particular skater though because far from it, I do appreciate their efforts and bravery (including Mao and Marin).
It's not easy to perform when you're under intense scrutiny, which might work better for Satton so she can focus with less pressure (i think she has enough pressure already).

I'll stop my rant-ish post and switch the topic now (pardon me folks :) ). I think this is the most emotional Satton i've seen and the first time i saw her cry. She usually so poised and for me, a bit harder to read her true emotion as she seldom show it. Hope she have some rest physically and mentally before charging ahead with 4CC and Worlds. Ganbatte Satoko!!!! Also saw some pics in Twitter (as always, forgot the source. Aargh ), she was laughing so happily with other skater (Maybe Mai?) during gala practice, and it's just so precious!!

I also agree she looks more mature, and definitely grown up to be a very beautiful lady. I particularly loved how she look during the Hernando hideway performance. Beautiful indeed :) Didn't expect Chris to be the butler but awesome surprise there!!

As always, no hateful or ill intention folks. Just stating my observations :) :)

I know!!!! And the piece she uses is 'Leia's theme' so it is even worse. Hope she skates the heck out of it now !!!!!!

Yeah, that's what I meant. I mean, seriously, what's the chance? :sad4:
Satoko for Gold.
Uhm, I mean, as long as Anna and Evgenia also get Gold. (I cannot choose between them, sigh.)

Oh, I thought maybe just that she was even using Star Wars at all was a coincidence... I am very sad. Huge SW fan here.

Another coincidence with her music choices this year: George Michael passed away this week as well... and one of her exhibitions is to his song " One more Try" although he isn't singing it. I know it's a small thing, but it's still weird.

I love Satoko
The GPF performance was magical, she really felt it and the audience really felt it.
It really felt authentic. She skated with abandon and she made people feel the emotion
She looked invested emotionally and not stoic

Agree 100%. I was in Marseille and saw her live, my eyes did not leave her for one second, and I was in tears of happiness at the end.

Sorry for the double post. I just want to add (keep on forgetting): Satoko's becomes more and more expressive as well. If i compared to when she performed Miss saigon and this year FS, i feel she showed a much deeper emotion this year  . Hopefully she can keep up the good work and becomes better and better
