Schedule and ticket prices for Prague 2026 published

I've already read someone from Czechia saying this is really expensive and they fear it might not sell out since figure skating apparently isn't that popular in Czechia and they don't have a "star skater" like Ilia or Kaori...
I know this is an older statement, but I was just purchasing tickets yesterday and I was surprised how sold out the arena already is. We plan to attend only free programs on Thu, Fri evening and Saturday the whole day, and for Saturday the lower bowl is already sold out, there are just places left in the upper bowl. Also pairs and women are like 70~80% sold out, just few places left in lower bowl. Honestly I was not expecting this in August already. Also the prices are not that bad, we got a mix of tickets in different categories and I paid more for Finlandia all event pass in 2023 then I did here.

I wonder if they are just keeping the seats for selling later, because I'm looking at womens short tickets and it looks like in some segments every other row is sold out, random buyers wouldn't be so neat

It's entirely possible that they are holding some seats back, but what I noted is that they are selling tickets through 2 vendors and each of them offers tickets for different rows/sections. In some cases it was exactly every other row. I did end up splitting my purchase for both as in some cases one vendor had better seats available in other cases the other.

About a month ago, I realised that next year it will be 25 years since I went on a school trip to Prague. I've often wanted to return, and thought that Worlds would be a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and combine it with my first experience of a figure skating event.

But when I went looking for all-event tickets, I found that, apart from a few seats up in the rafters, there were none left! And when I went into the individual competitions, a couple of them were completely sold out and the rest didn't have many left.

It was the Category 3 seats I was looking at (the highest seats before you get to the balcony). To be totally honest, they are a bit on the expensive side, but the cheaper seats on the balcony are not worth it. You wouldn't be able to see things in detail from up there. Hey, you would get a better view watching on TV at home, but without the expense of going! As for the lower seats, they are just plain too expensive.

All in all, the pricing doesn't make sense to me. If we take the Ladies competitions and assume that they are going to be roughly the same length as last year (which they won't, because a lot of skaters skip Worlds in an Olympic season), it costs 1,690 CZK (roughly £60) for a 4h 45m SP segment consisting of 33 girls. Yet it costs 2,490 CZK (roughly £90) for a 4h segment consisting of 24 girls. So, you are paying 800 CSK (roughly £30) more to see less skating. How does that make sense?!

OK, so along with the skating in the FS, you are getting an interview with the winner and a Podium Ceremony. But that is hardly worth more than watching 9 skaters.

And the prices are exactly the same for the Pairs as they are for the Ladies. Yet there are far fewer Pairs partnerships than Ladies Singles skaters, and hence much shorter competitions. :drama:

Anyway, I thought that if I was to go, it would be nice to stay at the same hotel that we went to back in 2001, the Hotel Duo. I looked it up, and boys but it has changed since I was there! From the outside, it still looks like the same typical communist era building. But inside, it has been totally refurbished and upgraded. And I thought "I bet it is now way out of the price range of a school trip!" However, when I went to price rooms, it only went up to the end of 2025.

I checked again there now, and it does now have prices for 2026. But, it is unavailable for the week of the World Championships. So, I wonder if it is by any chance the ISU's official hotel. It's about 3 miles from the arena, so not too far.

That's just my luck!

Oh, well. I guess this trip was all just a dream. The stars may have aligned by having Worlds in Prague 25 years after my previous visit to the city, but nothing else aligned!

But, I've got another event in mind to finally see some skating in person.

We are going, on the final Saturday, the only day that fits with my partner's work schedule

We are way way up in the gods, but that's ok, the rest of the season, I'll watch close ups on TV, at this event we'll be part of it with a helicopter view.

And now, I have to book the other elements of my trip, we want to go to other places beyond Prague, too.

I've just tried to buy tickets - was just about to complete the purchase when I was timed out - the ticketing site is really user-hostile and so I've given up. Also, tickets are really expensive - I might have a rethink about going to Prague.
I have given up. I am going to Prague. I will ask the concierge about tickets. Ticketmaster wanted an address. I couldn’t convert the purchasing section at ticket portal to English, so used chat got, but that took too long. There are nosebleed seats left for women’s free and about 13 golden ticket seats.

Practice session tickets will go on sale Monday, 2/2. Ticketbastard or Ticketportal.cz just like last time, so bring your patience to the checkout :rolleye:
Edit: I see now this was mentioned above. I'm hoping to grab something for Tuesday but I'm definitely not getting up at 2am my time to do it, so we'll see

Mmmmm. When I first went investigating tickets, 113 was the section that I went into first. But there no tickets available.

So they were being held back for a second release. That's interesting.

When I saw that there would soon be tickets for seats on the lower level available again, I went pricing things more thoroughly.

Unfortunately, there are only flights between Aldergrove and Prague on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Which is rather restrictive. So, to attend the whole event, I would have to go from Saturday 21st to Tuesday 31st. Which I wouldn't mind, as I would like to see if there has been much change around Prague since the last time I was there 25 years ago.

I should add that there are more frequent, and cheaper, flights from Dublin. But it would be with Ryanair. And there is no way I am flying with them.

As I suspected, the hotel I stayed in on the school trip 25 years ago is indeed one of the official hotels. And they have a discounted rate for people going to Senior Worlds. However, it is only for the Monday to Sunday. So, I would have to sort something out for the days either side.

Adding together the price of tickets, flights and accomodation, it comes to about £1,500. And that is before you get to things like food, and transport between the hotel and the arena.

Much as I would love to go back to Prague, and much as I would love to go to a figure skating event, I think I'll pass on this. It works out far too expensive for a 10 day trip.

And it is all down to the price of the tickets. I was pricing the cheapest tickets on the lower level. An all event ticket plus a gala ticket costs more than the flight and the accomodation combined. That doesn't seem right to me.

Well, at least there is the stream on the ISU YouTube channel for the skating.

And I can look into going back to Prague some other time.

Are the tickets for men still there? I got yearly bonus, I may finally decide and go.
There are tickets left (on TicketPortal) for Men Short, but Men Free is sold out, as well as Ice Dance Free and the Gala; unless taking an all-event ticket (without the Gala), and it's in the high of Section 405 Balcony).

They added more tickets on Ticketportal.

Unfortunately they are gone for men’s free already. There’s information that they might be some more coming for resale but I don’t see a way to set up notifications.

The Czech federation has published infos on the schedule, the ticket prices and the start of sales.

Here is all the info

No starskater, but they do have two great ID couples and Georgii Reshtenko who was 3rd at Europeans! As well as a pair which are no slouches either. But such prices don't help getting public in.

Considering tickets in the gods on straight sides at Olympics were €550 for a single free programme session, I don't think tickets here are too bad.

The categories are split down a lot more than at Euros or Olympics, but upper tier is CzK1790 or 1390 (€57-74) for the Saturday. Euro tickets were sold for the whole day on Saturday, the same two events, men and dance, and were bargainacious at £50 (€57) in the upper tier for the double-header.

The gala was even more of a bargain, relative to Prague or Milan. We had tickets a few rows from the rink for £25, similar grade would have been €1200 in Milan, or CzK3290 here.

Milan would have tanked our holiday budget for this year, Prague doesn't. We're just doing Saturday, and building a Czech odyssey around it.

Anyway, they seem to have sold. I hope the catering and toilets are better than Euros. It's a low bar to clear.
