I'm not sure if Joannie is capable of rotating a 3-3 cleanly. Every clip I've seen of her doing the 3-3 (4 in total, 2 during training and 2 during skate canada warm-up) it's been underrotated on the toe... and here she had a great landing off the flip, and still cheated the toe, I was more than thrilled she went for it, but now I'm thinking... If her best attempt at it is still cheated (in practice I mean,) should she go for it during international competition? a cheated 3-3 will score her LESS than a 3-2, so unless she's able to do some clean ones in practice (which I hope is the case) maybe she should stick with the 3-2 for a while (Can't believe I'm saying that 
)

I have to agree. The time for Joannie to start trying the 3/3 was LAST year. IMO, it's a bit too late now. If she underrotates the 3/3 and falls in the SP at Worlds, her score will be MUCH lower (around 51-52) than the 59+ (with PCS of 6.93 6.68 7.00 7.00 7.08) she got at Canadians. At TEB, with a fall on the 3F (no combo), she got 50.56, with PCS of 6.25 5.95 6.05 6.15 6.15. She'd only get a few points more for the 3T<.
The rules aren't kind to underrotated 3/3 attempts, even without falls.

Joannie is looking into 2010. If she gets mileage in 3-3 in the years leading to the olympics and becomes better at it, eventually she will land 3-3 fully rotated.
That's not a given. Look at Jeff Buttle: his success rate landing a 3A is still only 60%, and his success rate with the quad is less than 5%. Kimmie Meissner has struggled with her 3/3s over the past two years and has yet to be credited with a clean one since the 2006 World Championships---and Kimmie just turned 18.
If Rochette were 16 or 17 at this point, maybe practice would make perfect. But she's 22, pretty long in the tooth for acquiring new skills. Shizuka Arakawa had 3/3s down pat at 22, but the 2004 World Championships was the last time she was able to land them cleanly.

But the difference between Shizuka and Joannie is that Shizuka was landing 3/3s cleanly in practice. shizuka also landed 3/3/3s cleanly at practice during the Olympics.

Joannie knows what she has to do. She knows that if she doesn't get the 3-3's down, she can only hope to win an occasional, lower level international competition. That's pretty much the situation now, and it sounds like Joannie isn't satisfied with that. She wants to win more; she wants to accomplish more; she's hungry.
As for being too old, well I tried to do a split for years, but I was never able to do one. And then, one day, I did it! And I was only 37 !!!!
At 1 minute and 25 seconds ( 1:25 ) into this montage, she does what looks like a triple-triple, so she has it in her.

Having just seen the CBC broadcast, I have to say it was a very creditable 3/3 attempt. She went for it was the main thing, and I think with her that was half the battle. I wish she'd tried it at one of the grand prix's, but I think she has a pretty good chance of a ratified 3/3 this season, unless the nerves of the bigger competitions to come get to her. But I don't see any reason to think negatively about her chances given how solid the attempt really was. She has it in her, and by 2010 she may very well have it down pat. That is the only thing separating her from a bronze medal at this point, and 2 more full seasons is enough time.

I wouldn't exactly call it a solid attempt. The second 3 was very clearly underrotated, but good for her to try it. 
I would love to see her on the world podium and she needs the 3/3 to get there
