....seems to be an amazing skate.....but one that warrants a 70+? Anyone there who saw it see it as amazing?

Mirai managed almost 60 points at the JGP final with a botched spin and without a triple triple. Sure, this score is inflated, but with a 3lutz-3toe and an otherwise perfect performance, I would guess she'd score in the mid-high 60s

Thank goodness the judges finally got it right. I have always felt the Mirai is overall a much stronger skater than Caroline. It always seemed like after Caroline's breakout season on the JGP that everyone was touting her as the next American champion skater, no one stopped to see that Mirai was probably better.

I had been thinking this whole time leading up to Nationals that if Mirai did her triple-triple she might score 65 points. I never imagined she'd get a 70.

Even though I'd have to agree with placing Rachel in second, I actually think her skating skills are not on par with a lot of the top skaters. Oh well.

Wow, you're not the only one... the same 4 my gf who told me that the fact that Nagasu has more consistent and better jumps than Zhang would make her a bigger star... & Nagasu's smile so cute!!! xDDDD

Mariai just got over 70!!!

Really incredible considering Yu-Na Kim's top score in the world for the SP is 71.95. Granted, this is with Nationals inflation though.

What Mirai delivered from reports is very impressive for someone as young as she is. GREAT JOB!

Now, wouldnt it be seriously horrible if we could not score 3 spots for Worlds 09? I have a gut feeling both Zhang and Nagasu, in 2 years, will be able to overtake Kim and Asada for that OG....and to think, after 2006, I was seriously doubting how long US Ladies FS could ever remain the staple it had been....

...now, on to watching Ashley. If she can score big, I'll be pretty happy. =]

I always thought that Mirai was the one with better skating skills, jump technique and more natural expression and musicality. Your gf is not alone. She s a breath of fresh air, imo.
