Paint It, Black in blue, and I thought Rhapsody in Blue in wine red was the end of it

I have another hour and a half before I have to work. Hopefully Junior Men start soon.

I'm going back to the start and will catch up some of what I missed before the men. I don't trust the stream to still be there later.

Watch your doors people 😉

More gloomy painting going on.

I know! Why do the skaters keep going for that gloomy cover, rather than the more exciting original?!

I started wondering if that cover came up first if you put "Paint It, Black" into the search box of YouTube. But, no, the Rollings Stones do come up first.

So, I don't know.

For those suffering, here is the original version:

The Rolling Stones - "Paint It, Black"

Agree, but YouTube translated Bangkok time to mine wrong with women. It shows men starting in 5 hours, which can't be true. I assume 30 min.

I gotta say Misheel was very nice to watch. The tech score was tiny, but I liked her flow and that lutz with a clear outside edge. She managed to got ahead 4 girls in the SP. Btw. there's a Polish actress with Mongolian roots also named Misheel, Misheel Jargalsajkhan.

I can't believe Leandra is only 15, she seems much older.
Well ... she had a LOT of her makeup on her face. It became much more clear in the K'n'C, I was like - oh wow and getting flashbacks to watching some ballroom dancing competition in person once as a kid. Most skaters use some makeup (including men) but she brought her A game today in this aspect. 😀

Yes, it shows the men starting at 6pm for me. Ladies was showing as 1pm and I *think* it might have started at 8am.

Well, the timing was totally screwed up... they're well and truly on, I've missed a fair bit? Who should I go back and watch?
You are not the only one. I am just joining you now.

That's probably it. And I guess if you like makeup, it could be a nice ritual before the competition to calm your nerves.

Wang:Good technique on jumps and spins, but did she sold her program really good?

Takagi:Good solid skate.but wasn't into it too much.

Okada:Only Italian was her dress.Nothing impressed.

Shin:Entire program fells akward to be honest.Started with failing combo jumps with Stsq3 and Ls3 is really low level for her.Only positive was superb Flip which is propably the best in entire junior section.Lot to work. She better show up for Free.

Doing a little catch-up since this one was way outside of my time zone and it seems like it was an uncharacteristically rough day for a good majority of the field? Super uncharacteristic mistake on the combo for Jia, I don't think I've ever seen her open up in the air that way. Just not a whole lot of confident skates outside of Yihan's and Yo's, it seemed.

Hoping that the free skate will be a return to form for a lot of the girls! :hap10:

Mei Okada was my favourite here. Too bad about the combo. Oh and the Vietnamese girl, what a talent.
But what unexpected results, free will be veeery interesting...

Are we sure that her coach is called Douglas 'Haw'? Since her choreographer seems to be her mother (Barbara Hawkes) I think it's more likely that she is coached by her father, aka Douglas 'Hawkes'
Her coach is most definitely former Orser associate Doug Haw who now works in the USA out of my home state. Most likely an online coaching situation. The name is just a coincidence.

Megan. Pretty black dress. Good skate.
Founder of Rise & Thrive for young adolescent athletes. Amazing idea, rooting for her to do well. Lovely costume, look and some tech issues but very pleasing to watch.
