Don't get my wrong, I love Wagner's skating. But if other skaters are getting slammed for wrong edges, I think it's unfair to them if other obviously wrong edges aren't called.
Honestly, I just want the judging to be fair.
Why was Mirai not given a grand prix assignment this year? I think that it was a splendid idea!
If Kimmie screws it up and only 2 out of Mirai, Zhang, Wagner, and Flatt get to go to Worlds next year, I will be VERY mad and throw the ugliest item possible out onto the ice when she finishes her performances at 2009 Nationals...I'm thinking some kind of deformed teddy bear
I dont care who ya are, that is classic.I find it rather ridiculous that neither Wagner nor Zhang (and Flatt, to a lesser extent) got slammed for their flutzes. They've gotten edge deductions for every single one of their lutzes this season.
I hate to say it but it may be time for KM to step aside if she doesn't rebound in the Free. I mean how the HECK did some of these younger ones place so far ahead of her??
Geez. Um, she fell?
. I hope this kid makes the World Team next year to silence all the people who have been so harsh on her. .
I somehow hope she pulls it together for Worlds, though. She and Wagner NEED to get the U.S. 3 spots for 2009. If Kimmie screws it up and only 2 out of Mirai, Zhang, Wagner, and Flatt get to go to Worlds next year, I will be VERY mad and throw the ugliest item possible out onto the ice when she finishes her performances at 2009 Nationals...I'm thinking some kind of deformed teddy bear that has "YOU SUCK" painted in bright red.
:chorus:
I liked Nagasu and she is a force to be reckoned with, but I thought everything from her program to her performance was still a tad junior, and I'm not terribly disappointed that she has another year of juniors to work on the performance aspects a bit — and she should get some choreography and music that are more elegant — she is so small and young that I think it's a mistake to highlight that with her program choices if she wants to be taken seriously as a senior ladies skater. No doubt she's impressive on the jumps, spins, spirals etc.
.
Mirai was overmarked in the PC scores. She reminds me of Mao from two years ago: technically good (better spinner than Mao at that age) but very juniorish. Thought it weird that she scored better than Kimmie in the PCS. Kimmie so much better this year on that count. No more stiff arms. Strong and mature and expressive. If she could only get her jumps back. Also feel that Flatt and Wagner deserved PCS as high as Mirai if not higher.
