Sergei Voronov

Well, I don't know if injuries are ever good news, but at least he seems optimistic that it will be healed, and maybe it explains why he wasn't at his best in Saransk. There's 6 weeks until TCC, so I guess it's better that he is getting over an injury now than later.

OMG, this is very interesting!!! I wonder why he chose Goncharenko, since Buyanova's group seems to have much better funding and training conditions... :confused:

He will be a top athlete in this group. After Elena offcourse.
This is the main reason. I think.

I think 2 direct rivals in a team is already pushing it, and she has Maxim and Adian now. Is it possible that things might improve for Goncharenko's team, with another high level skater there? Someone on the other thread about Eteri's group said that he might have gone to CSKA with a view to becoming a coach eventually. I'm not sure if it's true, but it would make sense. Even if he does want to compete a few more years, it's certainly in his interest to be planning for what will happen after that.

And if Sergei is already back on the ice training, then at least that is good to hear, and his injury must not have been too serious.

Yes, as soon as I wrote the post I realized that Buyanova's group is probably too full right now...

I was also wondering if Goncharenko's group might get better conditions now--since Sergei was 5th at Nationals, doesn't that mean he gets Fed funding? I hope they get better conditions! :yes:

And I'm also glad to hear that Sergei's injury doesn't seem to be too serious. :agree:
 
I had a feeling the rumor of Sergei leaving Eteri's group was going to be confirmed someday...but not bad news for him.

Under Tutberidze skater training in 2013. Earlier it was reported that in the Figure Skating Federation of Russia not received applications from the Athlete of the change of a trainer.

Hearing someone saying that he/she doesn't want to comment a change always sounds worrying... :scratch:
I still hope that this change of coach is the result of a mutual agreement whith his previous coaches, and that Sergei was not forced to change.

One good news : right now Sergei has most of the highest season bests of the male russian team for this season. :agree:

The good news is that new coach is the new challenge for him. So it means he's not going to retire despite a lot of rumours. Now I wonder what is happening to Menshov

I doubt that it was a mutual agreement. Usually change is when someone is not happy. Either Tutberidze kicked him out, which I think is not very likely, or he was not happy with his training conditions. He may not want to complain loudly because that would damage the relationship with Tutberidze, and he will be seeing her in the future frequently at the competitions. Tutberidze has too many skaters, and quite a few of them pretty succesful within their age group, but that means that they all need their time with her. Goncharenko has Elena, Voronov and the rest are B level of skaters, so both Elena and Voronov will be able to have plenty of individual attention. If Tutberidze had 25 skaters, how many hours of one to one per day she could give him?

Even though Goncharenko is in CSKA, her resources seem to be far more limited than Buyanova or even Sokolovskaya. She seems to draw the short end of the stick when it comes to ice time, and she doesn't have specialists on retainer like some of the other groups do. Thus, I wonder what Voronov can get out of it.

Sergei is so easygoing and respectful of everyone that I cannot imagine him ever talking badly about any former coach. I am not sure we will ever know the full story, but objectively, yes, it's got to be impossible for everyone to get enough attention with the way the group has grown. And maybe that group training atmosphere really helps the younger skaters learn to compete, but someone his age with more individualized needs might not find it helpful after a certain point. Besides, his only real competition (Adian) left...I wonder if they decided to go together, or if it was just by chance that they both left at the same time. By the way, does anyone know if their two teams train at the same time at CSKA? It's kind of nice that they can still communicate there, since they seem to have a very good relationship.

Most HILARIOUS and RIDICULOUS fan speculation I read to explain why Sergei left Tutberidze and won't talk about it:

On the Russian forums, people were speculating that he wanted to move to CSKA so that he could coach there later, which could make some sense since it seems to be the most powerful club. In that case, it wouldn't really matter whose group he joined, as long as he could get the CSKA association.

And maybe he thinks Goncharenko is a good coach and wants to learn how she coaches?

They are not on the ice at the same time, but they share the same facilities so they'll be in the same buildings. Surely their paths will cross. :yes:
