Wow, what a competition!!! I was so busy liking and retweeting and watching everything Shoma-related last night, I haven't even posted here. Congratulations Shoma and team for a well-fought first Grand Prix Final title!
Can I just say, more than the GPF gold, I'm super excited to see Shoma continuing to polish his programs! Gravity is finally skated clean, and now Aria has been adjusted to pace the elements better. The new details in the Choreo Sequence and Step Sequence!!! When he moved to that kneeling position, I swooned. And when I thought the use of his arms and hands and the connection between upper body and lower body is already challenged enough with the Step Sequence... they added more details!!! And there are still things to work on too, beyond adding that pesky third combination to the FS, the jumps in the Mea Tormenta part of the FS can be better integrated. It's so crazy, it's not like he skated badly- he skated well, the best he skated both programs this season, but the programs themselves still have higher ceilings he can reach in.
I'm just so, so proud of Shoma. He really has become such an incredible skater, competitor and person. This whole thread from his post-win press conference is great, but I love how thoughtful he is about his fellow competitors especially from Japan, who will have a short turnaround time before Nationals. Hopefully they all can have great skates and finish the year without injuries!
