Also, if you are not an avid listener yet, I recommend listening to The Runthrough podcast by Ashley Wagner, Adam Rippon and Sarah Hughes (not the OGM Sarah Hughes), especially their NHK Trophy episode. They had a lot of praise for Shoma's skating and FS program, with good-natured humor over the whole result (this episode is titled "Death by a Thousand Qs" and they admitted it's a Shoma tribute). But I really enjoyed the whole episode, and I think they all articulated really well the amazing aspects of Shoma's skating displayed at NHK Trophy 2023.

Shoma relevant parts starts around minute 50 of this episode, but the whole podcast itself (and the other episodes) is a fun listen.

Some people said Shoma’s jumps seldom have been called and got high GOE always, but I did remember there were at times his technical scores dropped a lot,for example,Skate Canada in 2022. And what interesting is the technical controller is the same judge as NHK 2023. As Shoma still won the title at that time, he himself or other ice fans did not notice these deductions. So it might be this judge’s personal preference or style.

^^^Interesting. That technical controller was Attila Soos from Hungary. It's not at all unusual for GOE scores to drop, although not quite by that much!!!! I've seen them rise after the review too. 3.30 to 0. 2.99 to 0. 2.22 to 0. 2.99 to .27. Ummm.

Adding -- What I listed here has nothing to do with style. GOE is the quality of the element.

Thanks rabidline for the videos without the commentary! It makes such a big difference and now days so
hard to find. Without the commentary Shoma's FS is trance like and I was mesmerized from start to finish.
It was magnificent! :dbana:

Shoma has arrived in Beijing yesterday night (local time). You can see his trainer's Demi-san Instagram stories for the bits of updates 😊

Good luck and enjoy the competition!

^^^Yes, and that's where I really miss Uno1 and seeing Sho packing, leaving, saying good by to the moffs, etc.! A nice, first-hand report!

Men's practice started about 10 minutes ago. Come on Sho! Let's go! Glad he has only a one hour time difference. No big jet lag!

Adding: Do you have a Twitter account? If so, if you would like to send good luck wishes, there is a #GoodLuckShoma hash tag that has been started.

Well he shouldn’t be that tired since Beijing isn’t too far away. This is exciting! It’ll be a great competition.

Sho had a great practice!!!! Nice to see Brother Tree is watching things too. #$%%&*@?"< 3A-Eu-3F?!:thank::cheer::jaw::hb:

Quote from a separate GS Tweet: "Shoma Uno seems in the form of his life. He just doesn't miss." I like the sound of that!

I was eagerly awaiting a practice report, glad to see this! I hope Shoma can save some energy for the competition and do equally well! Itsuki's quote says "Cheering with all my strength!" and I know I'll be doing this too! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Starting order for the SP is up. Technical controller is from Canada.
