Congratulations to Prince Shoma kun on his silver medal! Well done! His free skate is so mesmerizing, it makes me feel like I'm in a trance! I am so proud of him! Not a perfect skate by any means, but it didn't matter. There was no disruption to the beautiful flow. I loved that one of the announcers said you forget how many quads he's done, because they are so seamlessly woven into the choreography. And the Grand Prix statistics that are listed above are nothing short of amazing. ALWAYS first in my heart, no matter what the color of the medal.
" I love 🎶 you 🎶 I love you 🎵 I love 🎶🎵 you I love 🎶 you." 🎵
That comment was sooooo true. It's a strand that flows rather than a grouping of elements. I'm proud of how he went out there to skate beautifully but when the tech part had a glitch, he showed that he is a competitor and went for the quad-triple combo to make up for the earlier quad he doubled. That takes a fighting spirit that goes with his trance inducing performances.

Thank you to shomagravity for her translation of Sho's mixed zone comments. I love to hear the comments at first, then they start to get repetitious! LOL. It's reassuring though that he seems to be in a good space mentally with what he is doing.

I really admire Shoma's strong heart. I don't think he's gotten over his disappointment from NHK Trophy, but when the going gets tough, he gritted his teeth and just did what needs to be done within his means. Kept his cool and delivered what he can. That mix of strength and determination as a competitor and his own talent and sensibility as an artist... it's what I have always loved about him.

The detail of his last spin and his real closing pose in slow motion is beautiful.

More slow mos! Love the expressions as he opens Spiegel im Spiegel.

What a stellar performance from Shoma...! I would love to write more, but I really want to take my time and think things through before writing a somewhat personal reflection, I may post it later.

I couldn't watch Shoma's free skate live, but at least I finally received one of the new Shoma calendars and took a good look at it before watching! 😍

It also came with a small photograph from having pre-ordered it.

Okay this is THE MOST ADORABLE thing I have ever watched aaaa Shoma practicing his Come Together EX before the gala in a giant coat with a hoodie and IT'S SO CUUUUTEEEEE 😆 well also he's very cool since it's Come Together but you all have to watch on Weibo:

Also a Russian friend justchoro shared with me, an English subtitled Russian commentary for Shoma's Come Together by Andrei Zhurankov and Betina Popova, a former competitive ice dancer. They had all good things about Shoma of course, Betina especially had some really lovely compliments for Shoma:

I watched Shoma's free skate live last night, 2nd row next to the judges' panel. It was heavenly. Love, beauty, time, he made these things tangible to my senses. I can't describe it. Like seriously, I can feel "time"?! I will need a lot of time to process what I experienced.

@miujison Wow! Lucky you! He is stunning on a computer screen and even more amazing live. So glad you were able to be there. We are all.very jealous! Hopefully you were cheering really loudly!!! Is there anything else you can share about your experience?

Can international fans get a calendar?

Do you suppose Shoma would consider writing a book in the future after he retires? I know Itsuki wrote a book about him (I still need to get a copy and read it), but I wonder what it would be like reading through his own eyes. He seems very reserved so no pressure at all. Just wondering. There is so much I’d like to ask him about if I could: more of his thoughts on expression in skating, building confidence, building friendships, more thoughts on ice shows (because they look incredible!) and more.
